Ristorante Julia

Been here a few times and it was consistently snooty service, bourgeois crowd, who obviously could not tell what good food means. Prices are not indicative of quality and taste. Small portions, run of the mill fare. Reminding self not to ever come back. Paradiso and Pasquale is better.

Went here for lunch today...was a very nice place for a great meal! Delicious food with great ambience, a bit expensive for the portion size, but very tasty food none the less. Nonna's gnocchi is to die for, and the carrot, parsnip and sweet potato soup paired with the Julia salad was also very delicious!! Would definitely recommend as a date location or even a nice meal pick for couples or groups.

The best meatballs I have ever tried at any restaurant! They were huge and so flavourful, the sauce was also very good and I like that the pasta was linguine instead of the classic spaghetti. Excellent and prompt service!

I was with my family and a couple of friends for New Year's Eve last night and honestly I don't recommend this restaurant. Since the booking of a table for 7 people (which was accomodated on last minute at our arrival) we knew this restaurant was not going to be good in service. My sister ordered a Paella and it had only 1 big shrimp and 1 small chorizo piece. My mom ordered a black cod, which was a very small portion and 4 asparagus - no sides on this dish. My dad and myself gad the Lamb Osso bucco and it was a small bone with burned meat. In a nutshell, we ended up hungry at the end of the night with a bill of over $300 - not worth it to pay this for a poor service, and small and not well prepared dishes.

I have been patronising Ristorante Julia for the past eight years. I come every year with my family to celebrate the life of my late wife Julie, who I miss dearly. The staff are very attentive, courteous and professional. The food and service are second to none. I highly recommend Ristorante Julia's .

We had a nice range of menu items between the 5 of us that went, so no complaints about the food. The service could have been better, we had long gaps between visits from the waiters even though the place wasn't that busy. The location and patio is what really sells the place, it is in a great spot on Lakeshore.

I came here as a part of the Taste of Oakville event. My companion and I tried different things to share off their Prix fixe menu. The flavours were present but not overpowering. The portions were better than I was expecting. The price is more upscale for individual items so it's not a place to eat often on a budget. But it can make for a good evening out. As always, apologies for pictures of food already eaten. My mouth and stomach often take precedence.

Delicious gnocchi and grilled shrimp. The soup was amazing on a cold winter day. Everyone in my party enjoyed their crafted cocktails and their dishes (pastas). Although the service was a little slow, it was a busy lunch time during the holiday season. I am sad to see this restaurant is gone now.

About six years ago I would have given Julia's five stars plus gushing recommendations. The service was warm and considerate, the food was nuanced yet classic, the portions were shareable but not overwhelming. Pricing was impressively fair as well.Harsher economic realities may have forced the changes in menu and pricing to be more upmarket, but the service has also taken a bit of a hit. I want to say give the place a chance, but only if you're of a mood to splurge.

Had a decent experience here as a first timer. Not the type of restaurant where I would typically go but tried it on the recommendation of a colleague. Selection was good, as was the Ceasar salad and seafood linguine. Cozy atmosphere. I wouldn't go back as it's not my cup of tea, but would recommend it to others.
