Hardwood Depot

My wife and I put all new flooring throughout our house in Mount Pearl in 2015. We purchased all flooring through Hardwood Depot and had them install it. Upstairs we had Hickory hardwood installed throughout, except the bathroom and front entry way where we put tile instead. In the basement we had a C5 rating laminate wood flooring installed throughout with tile placed in the bathroom. We were then and still are very pleased with the service and are extremely pleased with how Paul and Hardwood Depot have dealt with us. Even when challenges or problems did arise (which nearly always do when dealing with renovations and construction), Paul was very good at working through them and ensuring that we were happy. The hardwood flooring installers were exceptionally good and the men who laid our tile did their job well. Within days of the hardwood flooring being installed we started noticing issues. The flooring started to crack, split and constantly squeeks right from day one. It took a year to get them to replace part of our flooring of which they glued down the new boards that now sit higher than the rest of the flooring so our feet and vacuum constantly catch on the boards. We also got a new staircase and bannister put in by them. The bannister was as loose after one year as the old one we had replaced and the wood handrail of the also cracked bannister. They gave me the full run arround getting me to go to their supplier back and forth and no one wanted to take blame. They came over 4 times to check humidity levels in our house that never showed any problem. Service was a joke and Gerard the manager could learn a thing or two about customer relations. Such a bad experience I won't even allow them in my house to fix any of the other issues.

Paul and his team made our renovation a breeze. We had hardwood installed in our living and dining rooms and had the hall (previously hardwood) sanded and refinished to match the new hardwood. The stain color and finish is amazing. If you want a company who lacks customer service, this is the one for you. For 6 months we’ve been trying to get them in to finish the job the work they did and to fix work that broke 2 weeks after it was done. All we have received is “We’ll get back to you”. We’ll good luck with that.

Service is very good, lots of flooring choices.

The people are amazing. Super knowledgeable and helpful with years of expertise. Prices good. The hardwood shortages suck though.

I would not recommend based on our recent experience with hardwood stairs. They struggled to find a stain to match the wood we selected and were told that if we didn't like the last stain they tried, it would be up to us to find a better match. For a place that provides custom stairs, this is not a statement I would expect. We ended up having to settle for a stain darker than we wanted. Aside from the stain colour, they added an extra $600 onto the cost without consulting us, when I asked why they didn't call they responded that they didn't want to hold up the closing of our house. A five minute phone call would have been appreciated, and they justified the extra cost by looking through the email quote for a loop hole. If you plan to use hardwood depot make sure you have a formal quote that includes every detail. My final comment is on the quality of the install, the posts are not flush with the flooring, very disappointed with the quality.

Had hardwood installed in living room and vinyl in entrance porch. Was one of few places if not only who could get hardwood in 4-6 weeks. Actually took 7 but given weather, protests and other world events I was more than satisfied and installation took place within day of delivery.Both Hardwood and Vinyl were installed in a day by the two Shawns. Both did an excellent job and I fully recommend their services.Paul was more than helpful throughout and communication was a excellent. I fully recommend the services and work of The Hardwood Depot.
