Plato's Closet Merivale
Honestly, I have had several great experiences with Plato’s closet but this was my first time visiting the Merivale location and it was horrible experience! I was told on two separate occasions from two different employees to stay around because they are working on my clothes now so I had no problem spent an hour and 15min shopping around, and then checked with them again. I was then told to wait another 45min on top of the hour & 15min. Now, I understand that it’s just estimation on when to pick up but I was told three times not to leave as they were almost done. I spent my evening here.. 3 hours later! Had to cancel my gym class and all. When I could have went to the grocery store and then gym and returned after but NOPE I was told to stay. Wasted an entire Monday evening here.

Plato's Closet Merivale
Plato's on Merivale continues to be well worth a visit. It's rare that I don't find at least one thing to tempt me. I'm Large or Extra Large (mostly...), so thrifting is a bit of extra challenge, but it's surprising how many lovely (or cute, or fun, or ridiculously silly and awesome...) pieces I've pulled off the racks at Plato's. And the stock changes over rapidly enough so that you can visit frequently and not feel like you've seen that, and *that*, and that too as you browse along the racks. :)The staff are great at giving useful feedback when I'm trying something on, and (as someone who's not exactly the average fashionista) I've always felt extremely welcome in the store. Thanks to everyone there who helps make this one of my favorite thrifting destinations!

While I don’t have any problem with this place, for the second time I was treated very rudely by the front desk I’m sorry to say this but their so RACIST specially the tall guy with glasses that usually works on Sundays morning. I don’t think they have the training they need. Also I have dropped off good Clothing and they will not take anything.

I was told that they don’t accept high heels , skinny jeans and leggings yet I have shopped there numerous times and I’ve seen all that. Took about 3-4 bags to the location. Will never again.I am not sure if the cashier was just judging me based on how I looked after a long 12 hour shift. I will be taking my shopping somewhere else.

My favourite thrift store in Ottawa! Lots of styles, sizes, and brands! I personally think that this place is cheaper than Value Village and on top of that all the clothes that they sell has been literally selected by the employees so you don’t have to worry about stains, smells, holes or broken pieces! I love their reward points as well!I also sells stuff to Plato’s once in awhile and if you actually read what their inventory needs are you will make good money! Plus employees are always happy to explain why they did or didn’t buy certain things!I love the team that works there cuz they are good at what they do from style advice to fashion talks! Even on busy days, I barely have to stand in line because of how well trained all their employees are and they are so good at what they do!!

Sellers: Don't waist your time preparing, cleaning, washing. They take nothing! Oh, and actually you loose money on gas driving there!Buyers: Buy things on Facebook or kijiji or eBay or other websites. You will get much better deals and better experience overall.

Love this Place Bought a Brand New Pair of Dr Martins for $30 this place is clean but haunted. So if your a sensitive like me you will hear and feel Spirits Energy P.S I find the Prices on Point and items in good to new Condition happy to go there once a week.

I had a great experience with this store and the staff. Before I came to the store, I checked their Instagram to see what inventory they want recently and organized my clothes, washed them and brought to the store. Arthur is super friendly. After I received the text message, I came back to the store. He showed me the list of items with price that they planned to take. I looked at it and said there is one item I don't plan to sell based on the price they offer. He changed the list right away, and gave me the money for the rest. The whole process is smooth and friendly. You may think the price they offer you is low, but I would say it's better than listing your item online for a higher price and hoping one day someone will buy it from you. I was at this store several years ago selling winter clothes, and they didn't take anything from me, and the staff was cold. I am glad the store and the staff are getting better now.
