NORTH BURNABY BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU

As an older woman walking into the dojo almost 7 years ago I felt shy, self conscious and out of place. Little that I knew that in no time this place would become home and my training partners would become my new second family.It is thanks to instructor Phil and Brandon and their full passion and dedication to the art that they've built a welcoming, supportive, fun, yet competitive space where everyone thrives no matter what their age, gender or skill level is.Thanks to North Burnaby BJJ, now I feel empowered, confident and look forward to walking through the door like a kid going to a candy store :)Jiu-jitsu is a major part of my life which I hope to carry with me for many years to come!!

I was looking for a new hobby that would keep me active and I came across Brazilian jiu jitsu. I didn’t think much going into it, but I ended up falling in love with this sport. The team here has been supportive, and VERY patient with me considering my lack of experience in any type of martial arts. Professor Philip Ta has cultivated and built such a great program and community that is welcoming to all ages, all experience levels and all genders. I can’t thank the team and Phil enough for helping me with this new passion/hobby/obsession!

Its July 29th, 2022.. the night before my wedding. My co-best man andrew is choking me out, tapping me out from some moves he had just learned at North Burnaby Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Fast forward 7 months, Andrew is still choking me and tapping me out.I would highly recommend this gym for anyone looking to start training Jiu Jitsu. Its not just a gym, but a community and family. Ask anyone who has been a teammate in the past or currently, this really is the best gym in vancouver. To Coach Phil and Coach Brandon, and my teammates. Thank you for having me and welcoming me with open arms. My teammates have helped me with personal growth when I was going through a tough time and I am currently in the best shape of my life. Amazing classes! Friendly environment and helpful! The instructors are very welcoming and easy/comfortable to work with. This community of people are very warm and welcoming. The locations is easy to find and free parking is close by.

I've been training at North Burnaby BJJ for over a year now and it's been an amazing experience. The coaches are knowledgeable and supportive, and the training is both challenging and fun. I recently signed up my son for the kids' class and he loves it too. The coaches are great with kids and the classes are both educational and fun. I highly recommend North Burnaby BJJ to anyone looking to improve their skills and fitness.

Phil and Brandon are very passionate and knowledgeable with BJJ and it shows in how they conduct and teach their classes in a professional yet friendly manner. The best BJJ gym in Burnaby. Been training here since 2016 and felt instantly welcomed. There is an amazing sense of community here and you will instantly feel welcomed. Phil and Brandon are amazing instructors! They are passionate, knowledgeable, and patient and always teach in a professional and friendly manner. The best place to train BJJ!

I started about a year ago looking to get back into martial arts, but also trying something different and was recommended to North Burnaby BJJ and it's been a great journey since. There's a great balance in the community here of everyone being very supportive, but at the same time challenging you to be better physically and mentally as well.
