This hospital has the worst emergency room in BC. Today, a triaging nurse called a patient for the triage but then she suddenly turned away and literally started chatting with other staff about her freaking personal things and their plans for tonight after work! Did she forget she works in an emergency and people are lining up in pain? When a person reminded her to stay focused on task, she got offended and tried excusing herself that her computer was still loading, which was a complete lie because her screen didn’t show any loading or freezing signs and it worked just perfectly when she finally started working! On top of that, because this “so-called” triage nurse was offended, she decided to skip actual triaging questions and sent a person to sit down without talking any further to the patient! As a result of this negligence, arrogant, unprofessional and uneducated attitude, the patient left the hospital in a severe pain and almost lost their consciousness on their way to Burnaby General Hospital. Luckily, the patient was quickly admitted there and found the causes of the severe pain in his body. Despite this luckiness, I still want to raise awareness that the Royal Columbia Hospital needs to reassess their triage nurses, provide them with a proper workshop on their duties and responsibilities and FIRE the nurses who shouldn’t be a nurse at the first place! There ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE LOOKING FOR A JOB WHO ARE WAY MORE PROFESSIONAL, COMPETENT, AND PASSIONATE ABOUT THEIR WORK! There are a lot of people who are compassionate and want to help others! As a society we need to move forward, reinvent ourselves to improve the environment we work in and continuously help others. Otherwise, it’s a complete non-sense and degradation! I hope, the triage nurses won’t call patients just to turn away from them and chat about personal life with coworkers, I hope that people who suffer severe pain and had to come to emergency are greeted by a nice and compassionate personnel who seeks to help, I hope that patients don’t need to leave the emergency room because they feel scared for their life at the emergency room!

This is one of the worst hospitals in the world not only in BC. The emergency room is horrible, needs to wait 5-7 hours to see the only one doctor and will not even give the right medication. Unfortunately this country is lost those good days when Canada was a great country.

What is the point of an emergency drop off when security gives you grief for pulling off to the side? ALL THE SPOTS ARE ALWAYS CONED OFF!!! Give your head a shake RCH!

Worst emergency I have ever experienced! They don’t help you with anything! I’m from Iraq and I would say Iraq’s hospital is much better compared to this hospital! Waited for 6 hours for 2 Tylenols!

I was dehydrated and I am pregnant so I was told from 811 to go to Emergency.I waited 3-4 hours to see a doctor but the nurse or the receptionist “Amanda” was being very patient and nice. Doctor Lim has been really nice too. Thank you for all you have done. Pls appreciate them for assisting patients nicely. I have been to Surrey’s memorial and had suffered a lot , since then I get so anxious going to hospital but thanks to the nurse and the doctor for making me more comfortable. I apologize to Amanda asking her water when she was busy doing her job. Thank you everyone again. Keep the good work and humanity still alive in the hospital where I found in my last experience that it was not there anymore!!

We visited the emergency room on June 14, 2022. Our 2 years old child was very seek. The doctor told us it's just a virus and not to worry without any examination, we spent the night there and told us to go back home and check again on Friday. We got back on Friday, the same doctor checked our son again, this time he did X-ray and told us that sorry your child has pneumonia. We were in the emergency from 10 AM to 4 PM
