All doctors in the clinic are very knowledgeable, friendly. Due to my unique case, I have to go the the clinic at least once a year, and get to meet all doctors in the group at the Vancouver and Richmond office through the past years. The staff overall great and friendly to deal with.If it was not the incompetent technician who had to try 5 (FIVE) times to put dye into my blood for a retinal scan, and no apology was offered, a higher rating would be given.

I have so many complaints you better buckle up.1. If you have an appointment time, please don’t expect to be seen until at last two-three hours after the scheduled time. The actual appointment takes not even 10 minutes, maximum. This isn’t even a one time thing, I’ve been coming here with my parents every month for the last year or so.2. If you have a surgery scheduled, they will not tell you your surgery time until literally right before the surgery date. They will tell you the date, no problem, I’ve known about my dad’s surgery in March since January ... but why would they ever think it’s a good idea to leave a voice mail asking us to call back in order to ask about surgery time on the Friday before the Monday surgery? They close on weekends, by the way.3. I’ve called back 3 times since the voice mail with nobody picking up the phones. I’ve left two voice mails to contact me back. Nothing. All within their working hours.4. Been on hold on their Emergency phone line for about an hour (and counting) ... if this is how long it takes someone to access an emergency line, too bad for the patient, hey?That being said, some of the attendants are nice, so I’ll give you a star for that.

I'm not sure what might have happened to other reviewers, but my one visit to the Richmond office was perfectly satisfactory. My only problem was something that couldn't have been helped, so docking a star wouldn't have been justified. At the end, after I'd been through the assembly line of technicians and Dr Vaezi himself and was accepted for cataract surgery, I had to fill out a multi-page form of information needed. Unfortunately, my vision was so blurred by the drops that had been used during testing I could barely read the questions, and was unable to look up some of the information needed on my health card or my phone. But obviously there's no point filling out the form until after the testing has been done and the decision made, so it's a problem only solvable if the patient is accompanied by someone who fills it in for them. I was on my own, so I struggled as best I could, and will undoubtedly be asked for the missing information as my surgery date draws closer. Otherwise I was quite happy with the work of everyone I encountered, and particularly relieved that everyone took my long list of confirmed chemical/drug allergies seriously and triple-checked lists of ingredients on everything that came anywhere near my eyes. So my experience was 5 stars. Sorry if others had problems or delays.

I have been going to West Coast Retina for many years and they have treated me consistently with compassionate professionalism. I have had treatments in other countries that have only made me appreciate Dr Merkur even more. The whole team is exceptional, from the office staff and the techs to the doctors.
