About the Business
Taste of Country - A Proud History and an Exciting Future | Welcome to the country! On April 1st , 1993, Tony Nelson opened Taste of Country. Then a modest store featuring mostly frozen foods in a 1500 square foot store employing just two full time staff. The original business was a runaway success and customers made it their go-to destination for frozen foods. By August 1994 the store increased its area to 3000 square feet with ten employees, and expanded its product line to include unique country gifts. Over the next 3 years Taste of Country continued

Stopped here and bought chocolate and salted caramel mini strudel.And a hard candy called humbug.The strudel was the best strudel I ever had. Way better than the mass produced stuff you get in the grocery stores.The humbug candy was great. A mix of mint, caramel and toffee.Anyone going or coming from sandbanks should stop here.The store also has a lcbo. So beer.

First time in the store and pleasantly surprised at the variety of goods offered. Freshly made chicken prepared on site and delicious. Handy place to pick up beer and wine, too. Clean store. Great Job !!!

This beautiful little local store has it all. Fresh produce and baked goods, LOTS of local frozen options for singles or families. As well as gifts beer and liquor, play stuff and a lot more. Is a small shop but WAY better to stop here than inside busy Picton (especially avoid the busy picton LCBO). This is our go to stop every time we go to the cottage.

Awesome little country store!! We stopped in on a driving course to use the bathroom and i had to grab some of the fresh baking. It was delicious! Well stocked with a little bit of everything. Very clean store, with very clean bathrooms.

Great variety of baked goods (enjoyed the pumpkin pie!) and other gifts. Offerings more than expected. Friendly staff. Wish they had local fresh produce. Only saw asparagus. Maybe it’s early in the season?
