I just finished the 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course at the Halton Centre. It is a true gift that you can give to yourself. It’s a lot of hard work and takes commitment but it gives you tools that you can take into your everyday life to build awareness, focus, self-compassion and resilience. Be prepared to be share with others, bring forth honesty and actively listen. Susan and Andre are great instructors who bring experience, knowledge, a feeling of calmness and a sense of humour! I really appreciated the information that was provided with respect to the true science behind Mindfulness. I feel that I could relate to this coming from a more technical mindset on things. The course is very well run and it is obvious that a great deal of preparation and organization goes into each session. The full-day silent retreat is unlike any experience I’ve ever had. I had some apprehension going into it but opened my mind to the experience. It was definitely worth it. I have to say I really loved all of the poems that were read in class; it was so nice to receive a package of the printed poems on the last day of class to take home with me. Thanks Halton Centre!

Thank you to Susan and Andre. It is impossible to sum up the gratitude I have to you both for facilitating the incredible 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course. It is a commitment but one that changes everything. You provide a safe and confidential environment for people committed to bettering themselves and discovering the strength and joy that belongs in all of us, but has been lost in the day to day social grind. This course provides the foundation for grounding yourself and making yourself accountable for your own awareness and happiness. Your gentle kindness and knowledge allowed everyone to just be themselves, be vulnerable, while building themselves back up. This is a safe place for anyone looking to just be more loving and kind to themselves and others.

I took the 8 week MBSR course here. I had no idea what I was getting into but just that I wanted to reduce stress in my life. I am fortunate and grateful that it was taught by someone who learned this and studied from the founder of this course. (I believe, this qualification is a rarity in Canada!) Well, it was a life-changing experience for me. I learned life-skills that I will carry with me forever. And not just because I have to, (which I feel is that I am not able to survive without these teachings anymore), but also because I want to. The eight weeks added significant value to my life. Many times when you begin a course or a program, it can be said that 'the hard part is over'. In this special situation, when the MBSR course has ended is when 'the hard part has just begun!' Glad to have the Halton Centre create a community to keep you on this path of, what I would term is 'self-recovery', for as long as you want to or need to. I recommend this course to everyone (except children of course as it is way too intense for them). And look forward to the opportunity of taking more courses at the Halton Centre.

I am completing the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course and am very grateful to my instructors and classmates for an awesome experience. This is a life changing experience as I am learning to better manage my stress, anxieties, and experience an improved quality of sleep. I went to the orientation as a skeptic however I soon became a firm believer and am so pleased with my progress so far.

This place runs a group mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) program (see their website for it). It is a transformative experience in the sense that you get in touch with your mind and body. I’ve tried different therapies and meditation apps for depression/anxiety and stress with mixed results but this is guaranteed to help because you’re not alone and the instructors know exactly how to get you on your journey of being more aware of your stress response instead of it having control over you. If you’re even remotely curious please give it a try, it will be the best gift you can give to yourself.

Contacted these guys to address my sleeplessness issues. Director Susan I believe, called me but didnt take my case neither did she refer me to anyone else as discussed. I felt that she thought I couldnt afford the sessions just from my accent(island). Irony is that my insomnia may be in part due to my high paying finance job that is quite stressful. I found the whole encounter very odd, to say the least, but not surprising.

I've completed the 8 week MBSR course and I truly recommend it to anyone who is looking to reduce their stress levels. In our busy, fast-paced lives, it's truly freeing to do some real introspection and self-reflection in a calm and kind environment. My instructor, Andre, was phenomenally present and a wonderful guide along this journey. Dr. Susan Williams would also come into the class and her insights were really profound and overall, I learned to be more self-compassionate. I would recommend this course to anyone but, I warn you to treat this course as a marathon...don't sprint, just walk, then run and eventually, just enjoy the marathon!
