Went for lunch - the service was great but the food took over 30min to be served. We ordered the Taiwanese Minced Pork Rice and Tomato Beef Brisket Rice (pictured) and were very disappointed with the result. It was visually unappetizing, tasted like it was reheated out of a microwave, and meager portion sizes for what you are paying for. Would not recommend.

Sugar Marmalade is definitely my new favourite dessert spot in Barrhaven! I’ve been here a couple times already since their soft opening and it’s certainly the better spot compared to the Rideau location. The staff here is very friendly and the service is fairly quick despite how busy it gets.My favourite pick is the DIY shaved ice, unlike some of the other locations with standardized options, you’re able to completely customize what goes on this dessert.The only negative is, with the size of the store, the seating is fairly limited especially with how popular they are, so make sure you go well before closing so you get a chance to be seated and have time to enjoy your food!

Desserts are so so good, definitely going back again. The shaved ice was delicious, big portion size and can be shared by 2 or more people. The waffle was my favourite and would recommend it.Takoyaki was decent, and great service too.

Ordered the takoyaki balls, they were amazing! Soft on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. They burst with flavor.Ordered the popcorn chicken in the taiwanese flavor and was disappointed. It lacked flavor.Ordered the shaved ice in green tea flavor, with grass jelly and green tea iced cream. Was pretty good. It was also big and would make a good dessert to share.Would come back again for the takoyaki balls!

The food reminds me of a teenage comfort Chinese food if that makes sense! Homey but not quite full quality asian food. The rice mixed dish is fun with the cheese, the dry mixed noodle is def noodles from an instant noodle package but it’s flavourful!The desserts are to die for. Really unique, well priced and so much to choose from. Can’t wait to go back and try more!

Would highly recommend the Mango Pancake with Sundae Supreme and Taiwanese Style Fusion Popcorn Chicken.The service was exceptional. Staff were very attentive with clearing our table and refilling our water. They made sure that we were happy with all that we had ordered and our food came promptly despite how busy it was.

I'm really happy this place has opened in Barrhaven, very good desserts, friendly staff, and the store looks great.Service was pretty good. We got our desserts relatively fast, around 10-15 minutes, which is not bad at all considering how the store was packed.There aren't many viable locations open past 9 pm in Barrhaven. Although it's not by much longer, im glad this spot stays open until 10 pm.It's a little different from what I had in the past in Toronto or at the downtown Ottawa location, but for the better. When I last had sugar marmalade, they had pre-set shaved ice options. Now they have a DIY shaved ice, and I think that is much better. I really liked the idea of being able to customize my shaved ice how I want it.My only complaint is that one of our cups was a little dirty, but that's not a big deal. We just asked for a new one.I would highly recommend this spot of you like asian desserts! But be prepared to wait, because I expect them to have a lot of business.

Presentation was OK, but taste was unacceptable. As a Chinese owned restaurant, the rice was too soft and without rice scent. Bubble waffle should be warm and crispy. But the one here was cold and soft. Costly price but low quality food.

Sugar marmalade is a dessert place with some wonderfully curated dishes. We had Mango pancake with Sundae supreme, fusion fries with Kimchi, Fresh mango with pearl delight and fusion chicken popcorn.Food was delicious and service was exceptional.Will definitely go to this place again. Loved it!!

Nice addition to barrhaven. Unfortunately, the food was below average (takoyaki was served cold and the chicken was too salty).Bubble waffle was good though! I would come back for other desserts!
