Dr Butler and her hygenists are nice enough. She is okay dealing with basic dental issues but useless when more serious things arise. Her office staff have zero customer service and are nasty-which is a reflection on her. There are enough good dentists in town, don't do it.

Good day. It has come to my attention via my wife after we left your office today that your staff made some comments that I believe our quite unprofessional. While my wife was in the waiting room awaiting the necessary paperwork package, she over heard staff commenting on how we did not have control over our child, and that we should probably have him checked.I consider this grossly inappropriate, not to mention unprofessional. If your staff want to comment on an interaction with a client, they could at least wait until we leave the office. I understand that the interaction today was quite unpleasant. Do you think that maybe for a moment that it was unpleasant for our child and us as well?We have been to three separate clinics before yours. Every time we coach him and give him the expectation of what dentists do. We have even played dentist with him where we count his teeth, get him to open as wide as we can while we look around his mouth, move his lips around to expose the gums and the likes. The point I’m trying to make here is that every child is different, and every child has their own fears and moments of anxiousness. We do not need to get our child “checked” as was indirectly suggested by your staff member. And we certainly can only do so much with regards to “having control” over our child. What would you have us do differently other than what we already did during his oral exam.I trust and hope that our concerns will be brought forward during your team meetings so that this does not happen again in the future.PS. Even though the interaction was difficult, I would like to thank Dr Butler for not backing down and continuing the exam even though our son was extremely difficult. This has not been done in the past. The other dentists we visited simply backed down.

My 6 year old child wouldn't allow our regular dentist office to do check-up or cleaning, we tried a couple different visits with no success. So we were referred to Dr. Butler (who has also helped with our other child's unique dental needs - with success). Dr. Butler and staff have done a wonderful job, were sensitive, extremely helpful, and most importantly - succeeded in the absolutely necessary, while weighing the need vs. risk ratio on future procedures with wisdom and sensitivity. Due to her specialty I'm sure her office serves many with unique needs and so respect their voice of experience. Children referred here struggle with unusual dental situations or psychological situations or both - the latter should definitely be complementing treatment with behavioural therapy specialists, for the child's best quality of life in mind (not an insult, just a fact). Highly recommend!

Today was a rough one. My 16 month old son fell and knocked out his front tooth. Nerves were showing so be needed to have the rest of the tooth removed. Although it was one of the hardest things ive ever had to watch happen to my son, Dr. Butler and staff were amazing with him and myself. They aloud me to nurse my son to calm him after the xray and again after the numbing gel before having the tooth removed. They were amazing, patient, and encouraging. Thankyou Dr.Butler and Staff. Because of you, my son is currently sleeping soundly and pain free.

I am not happy with my experience and we never even got to see the dentist. My daughter was referred to Dr Butlers office 2 months ago and we never received a phone call to book an appointment. I finally called and booked an appoinmet myself. The woman I spoke to told me that I could cancel the appt if my husband would not be home to take my daughter and we could reschedule. I called today to cancel as my husband(who is a long haul trucker driver) is not home to take my daughter. The receptionist was very rude and told me that they would not be rebooking my appointment as I cancelled this one and the referral would be sent back to my dentist . I explained what had been told to me and she put me on hold and when she came back she said no we will not be rebooking you "."

I had a similar experience to as another mother on here. Unfortunately I messed up the apt for my son which I take full blame and responsibility for. I called in in almost tears because I knew I’d be paying for it. The lady at the desk was so lovely and said not to worry and she rescheduled me a new apt for my son. Minutes later the dentist who I assume is shannon butler called me back to let me know I’m not welcome back again and that she was “ doing us a favour” in the first place because of our insurance ( odsp). I don’t appreciate people making me feel like less of a person because I have a disability. Prior to this visit when she was meeting my son for the first time who has severe anxiety in general ( and what kid enjoys the dentist ), he kept looking at me across the room for reassurance. I attempted to say “ just take a deep breath buddy!” She quite literally put her finer up to my face and hushed me. He did NOT leave that office feeling confident about the next trip and therefore after all this I’m glad we are being referred somewhere else. I feel for a pediatric visit they were not very kid friendly.

I am quite surprised to see all of the negative reviews on here. I have had a less than impressive experience with only ONE of the administration staff, but she could have just been having an off day. My kids have seen both Dr Butler and Dr MacDonald and we are VERY happy with the care they have received. My daughter had a accident a couple of years ago. At the time we had only seen Dr MacDonald. He was not in that day but Dr Butler welcomed us in right away. My child was 4 at the time and Dr Butler was able to pull out 2 knocked in teeth without freezing or nitrous. She did so in a kind and gentle manner which we really appreciated as it kept our child calm. We have also had the pleasure to deal with Wendy on several occasions and she has always been extremely helpful, knowledgeable and kind. I would highly recommend this practice.

Dr. Butler was my dentist from the ages of 6-10 (2011-2015). I had several teeth extracted by her at the age of 8, preceding braces to correct improper tooth growth. Her bedside manner was abhorrent, and left me with medical trauma that has affected my ability to emotionally manage dental procedures, immunizations, as well as regular dental checkups, even all these years later. For a paediatric dentist, Dr. Butler does not have the skill or tact to deal with the complexities of an anxious child.I was just a kid. An anxious kid. All I needed was reassurance and compassion. All I needed was for the medical professionals— whose task it was to take care of me— to explain to me what they were doing, in order for me to feel a certain sense of control that would have prevented major anxiety in the face of a fairly invasive dental procedure for an 8 year old. That sense of control was stolen from me when Dr. Butler extracted my teeth without sufficient anaesthetic, without explaining to me what was going to happen, and ignoring my pleas for her to stop.I was scared. I may have been only a child, but I had a right to be heard, and that right was blatantly disrespected by Dr. Butler and her assistants during that procedure. As a paediatric dentist, she should know to listen to the patient, first and foremost. She should have known not to ignore the distress of a small child for the sake of expediency.Had she explained to me what she was going to do, explained the steps and warned me of what would happen, I would not have gotten to the point of such hysterics. I was an anxious child, who has now grown to be an anxious adolescent. I had to develop the ability to stand up for myself all on my own. I learned to stand up for myself out of necessity, and no child should have to do that because of a medical professional.I recognise the skill which Dr. Butler and her team possess. I would never deny that she has undoubtedly helped many children, and made them feel safe and comfortable. But as a child who has experienced firsthand her dental services, I did not once feel comfortable whilst in her care. I felt ignored, and belittled. My experiences and my fears were dismissed, brushed away as typical childhood reticence in medical environments. I was dismissed and belittled when I expressed my anxiety, told to just calm down".For seven years succeeding the extraction of my teeth by Dr. Butler
