Gear Up For Outdoors Ltd

Being a huge North Face fan and consumer I spent tons of money at Gear Up over the years as they were a huge distributor of North Face clothing and gear and always had a huge selection, especially the Summit Series. However that was then, I hadn’t been there in awhile and just went and was surprised they have very little of North Face clothing or gear anymore, a few t-shirts, trousers, hats and a few jackets. I was very disappointed. The rest of their line was clothing brands I’m not familiar with and no interest in purchasing. The place had a real liberal hippy vibe and even though the mask mask mandates are all over they were all still wearing those useless mask. I won’t be back, North Face website for me.

Bought two pairs of Keen hikers from here for my wife and me back in October. Overall everything is a bit on the pricier side but worth it. The staff here is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

Really great store with a fair selection. They've got all the essentials and fair prices. Good sales right now also. The two staff working were extremely helpful and friendly. I had a nice time chatting and left with more than I went in for. I'm happy to go out of my way to visit stores like this to avoid ordering from places like MEC or Sail. Looking forward to being a regular customer now!

I was excited to finally check out this store today but felt uncomfortable as soon as I walked in to the point that I cut my shopping short and was eager to get out.The two employees stared at me without greeting me when I walked in and continued to stare as I shopped. Finally, one asked whether I was looking for something specific and did so in an unfriendly tone.I have been profiled and made significantly uncomfortable in many Thunder Bay stores - something I have seldom experienced elsewhere, as someone who has traveled and moved extensively.I recognize that issues of race are intensified here and as a person of colour who might pass as indigenous, my experiences here have shaken me and driven me to push for business owners and managers to educate their staff on customer service, to take actionable steps towards being more inclusive and reducing racial profiling of customers, as well as to hire BIPOC, particularly at stores in industries where oppressed groups have reduced access and visibility, including the adventure/outdoors industry. You must do better.

First rate service and products and from a great local company.It's unfortunate that Jen Waldie an anti science, anti vaxx simpleton decided to throw a temper tantrum while trying to claim a fake medical exemption in your store.Thank you for keeping your staff and those of us who are following public health guideline safe.

Ordered an item through their website and was able to pick up at the store the next day. I was impressed with their social distancing measures while still delivering great service. I am very happy with my experience and am looking forward to an in-store visit in the future!

A great outdoor store with some great products. No cheap garbage here, nothing but quality goods. Most of their staff are pretty good too.
