Juke Fried Chicken
I was visiting Vancouver and I have never had the chance to order gluten free fried chicken so I was delighted to find this place on Google maps.. and let me just say, the food almost brought us to tears. Out of this world! I am celiac and my friend is not, she said it is up there with some of the best friend chicken she's had. We ordered to go, but the staff was also so friendly when I went in to pick up! Will definitely be counting the days til I get to come back here.

A gluten-free friend wanted to try Juke's Fried Chicken, located in Vancouver's Chinatown. The place must be popular because there was a steady stream of dinner-time customers coming & going as we waited for our take-out order. I shared a 10-piece box of fried chicken w/friends & some cornbread. While the chicken was crunchy, it was just OK" - nothing memorable. It needed more seasoning and/or salt. And the cornbread was a bit dry & forgettable. However

With more artisanal take on fried chicken, this is definitely one of the more interesting places to have fried chicken in town though unfortunately, it is not quite up there in my list. Though the service was amazing, and servers were nice, I felt something was just missing in the fried chicken as a whole. Hard to put my finger on, perhaps I am a bit too used to eating it in shabbier looking places is all. That being said, you should definitely give it a shot, they have an extensive menu, and chances are I just did not click with the options I tried so far.

The chicken was crispy and SO delicious!!! The fries were amazing and the bits of fried pickles were sooo good. It meant a lot for my celiac friend to be able to eat fried chicken again!! Would highly recommend even if you are not celiac. The lady at the counter didn’t seem very happy but the food was good :)

Came here for their two piece chicken and cocktail deal. Honestly, I'd do this more often if I lived closer. The location isn't exactly in the best neighbourhood but you really can't best this deal. The chickens were well made. The coatings are a bit too thick for my liking and I do find the flavour lacking a bit, but that's just my preference.

The Spicy Boyz chicken sandwich was just okay. It was quite greasy and overpowered by an acidic vinegary spicy sauce that in my opinion didn't work well with the chicken. Makes you feel kinda heavy and weighed down after you eat it. With the peanut slaw on top, it was kinda eating a wet sloppy mess with a soggy bun. Edible but not particularly enjoyable. Fills you up though.

4.8/5 fried brussels - I’d go back just for these. Tastes very similar to the brussels at Cuchillo on Powell St.4.6/5 corn bread - hidden gem at only $2.25 per piece. Skip your morning scone for this and you’ll thank me. Seriously good.3/5 spicy chicken sandwich- great chicken, but a really average slaw and a disappointing bun. A sando this simple has to get the 3 components right and I feel like they only hit home on the chicken… also the bun was bigger than the chicken which I consider a sin. go to DL for a killer chicken sandwich.2/5 service - Maybe they were just having a bad day, but our friendliness wasn’t reciprocated to say the least. Also took a good 15 min to get our order.Overall I’d fully recommend going for some spicy fried chicken (not the sando) with a side of brussels and corn bread.

Got the 3 piece chicken and waffles, fries, and a cola. The chicken and waffles came with some jalapenos which was new to me but pretty damn good. It also came with some apple chipotle sauce which was okay and some sort of whipped cream which again was decent. I think the waffles were so good, I prefer them plain without any sauce or syrup. The fries were nice and crispy and fun to munch on. Cola was a little different. The after taste reminded me of some Asian herbal medicinal thingy I used to drink but I was kinda digging it.

If you’re celiac or eating gluten free this is going to be your happy place! Easily the best crispy GF chicken I’ve ever had. Juke Fried Chicken is served (full table service) at the bar next door - Chickadee. 10/10 experience. I can’t wait to go back.
