Sandspit Airport

Not much amenities including restaurant which was closed at 11am during visit. Parking is plenty.

What a lovely airport. The art and decoration showcase the local area and the staff are all very accommodating. I do have to laugh at the one comment below complaining about having to lift THEIR bags onto the belts and through security. This is SANDSPIT after all, it will never be a YVR, YYZ etc.. And if you can't lift your own bag then maybe you should have packed less ??? It's like complaining that you can't get a medium rare wagyu steak when you are at the McDonalds drive through! Come on people!

Beware rental vehicles are most expensive anywhere in western Canada - takevpictures before you drive.Catch the bus IF you have a booking but don't doddle.

Perfect little airport to wind down and enjoy the flight back…too bad the YVR airport can not achieve the same.

Something needs to be done about the check in at airport. You get your bags weighed and you check in and get your boarding pass and then you have to bring your heavy luggage to security and lift those heavy bags up onto the security rollers.. and this is ridiculous and archaic. Years ago once you checked in your bags that was it and you didn’t have to carry and lift your bags up off the floor onto a roller. You have to lift 40 to 50 pounds each bag up around 3 feet off floor onto the security roller. The security lady with the baggage told me not to drop these bags snd I said they are very heavy and I told her they need to improve the way the baggage is checked in and she was adamant that there was nothing wrong with their way and she told me not to drop bags again but my bags were very heavy and this was inevitable.

The YZP airport is one of the cleanest in all of Canada. There is a lot of history of the Haida Nation, local adventurers, a great Bistro open from 8AM-3:30PM and an information centre where you can buy local items and Haida gear.
