My experience with the shelter has been great all around. We applied for adoption a kitten. The staff called quickly, and within a week we got our sweet boy! They were very thorough in our meet and greet, very knowledgeable, and offered great tips on transitioning. The staff were so friendly, and truly care about the animals in their care. Thank you HSL!

The visit was perfect. The attendant was kind and caring. They have beautiful dogs and six of the cutest loving young puppies ever. It is so hard to decide. Please stop by and see the amazing dogs. If you cant get a dog please donate.

, Quinn an Australian Kelpie just 5 months old was sent to Humane Society of the Lakes for the best chance possible of adoption. Contacts there Courtney and Diane assured rescue teams in Houston that dogs in their care at this organization will be placed in good homes. I found this adorable guy under a trailer, he had been dumped. There are so many dogs for adoption here in Houston-many suggested this shelter would be a great option for the pup. He traveled from Houston, to Dennison TX then on to Minnesota. Professionals in the business know Kelpie's are high energy, and rovers who generally don't favor crates. He was actively teething but played wonderful with other dogs and was loved by all who met him before he traveled north. After a long journey cooped up this sweet puppy just needed to run, play to clear his head for a few days. He arrived having his vet records, health certificate and rabies vaccination. He was given toys and chews to keep him occupied, a new harness and sent with so much love. Quinn arrived May 4th to the Humane Society of the Lakes. After multiple attempts to find out how he was doing, the rescue org. who dropped him off was told quit asking about the dog" . Call after call finally just yesterday we were told he was put down on May 7th. Courtney the intake director

We donated a 57lbs bag of Dog food to this great place and loved how they keep the dogs and cats looking so healthy. Sometimes we forget about the animals during this time of season. I hope this bag helps them a bit. Thank you for taking care of the helpless souls and help them find a good home. If your looking for a friend this is the place to find one and take home to create memories.

I have adopted 3 animals from The Humane Society of the Lakes in the past 3 years. Kirby our 6 year old cat was adopted from the shelter in 2016. Ruby the chihuahua was transferred to the shelter from Texas. We adopted her September of 2017. Arden our senior black lab finally joined our family in June of 2018. We love all of our rescues and could not be any happier.

Love that this is a no-kill shelter. They treat all the animals equally and give each individual animal the tools they need to stay healthy. I have volunteered here, so I have seen around the place and it is great. It is amazing to see how much everyone cares about the all the cats and dogs within the Facility. Organized, clean, and friendly. Way to go!

Meet Mollie, an American Staffordshire/Boxer we adopted from Humane Society of the Lakes in Oct. 2016. Mollie came from a kill shelter in Texas, was very thin (just 31#'s), unwell, and terrified of everything. Today she is 65#'s of pure love! All she wants to do is hug you, and crawl in your lap for cuddles. She is still terrified of plastic bags for some unknown reason, but loves to run and play, and take naps on the couch with her sister. I can't imagine our lives without her.
