Skilled Trades College of Canada - Barrie

The reason I gave this school a five star rating was because of Mario. He was the instructor I had for the electrical pre-apprenticeship program. Mario is a fantastic instructor in the short time you will spend here he will teach you as much information as he can without making it boring to sit though. He really looks out for all his students to make sure everyone will be successful. I honestly can't say anything bad about his teaching, he made coming in everyday worth your time.I am updating this review becuase I have bin working at this great company and becuase of everything I have Mario has taught me I have really excelled in the field.

After completing 3 months of the electrical program, I can confidently say it was worth it. Mario, the electrical instructor, was amazing to have was a teacher. You can see the passion he has not only for the field of electricity, but also for teaching others who are also passionate to learn about electricity. I would recommend to anyone who is interested in becoming an electrician to take this program as it has everything you need to get started in a new career

First of all let me introduce my self, I was student in recent batch. Secondly, If you looking for pre-apprentice program in electrical field this is right place for you. I completed the 3 month pre apprenticeship electrical program and it was an amazing experience. I gained a lot of knowledge about the industry and how things work. Having such a hands on experience is really beneficial as well because I actually feel ready to go into the field and complete work confidently. My instructor Mario made the course very enjoyable as well as he was able to explain things in very simple to understand ways. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who is interested in being an electrician but wants to gain some experience before entering the workforce.

As of writing this review I am 2 days from graduation so I can give my full opinion of this course. If you take only one thing away from this review it's the instructor for the electrical course Mario. I can say without a doubt that Mario has been the best teacher I have ever had the pleasure of having. He is passionate, caring, consistent and truly knows what he is doing. Having someone like Mario as an instructor is the best thing you could hope for as a student. Not only can he teach the subject matter but he is able to understand it to such a remarkable degree that he is able to simplify it down enough that it is extremely easy to understand but not too simple that it becomes redundant. Mario also brings up topics that are related to the course matter as a reference point to keep things grounded and relatable. This is a very fast-paced course that covers a lot but if you try you can easily succeed with an instructor like Mario. I came into the course anxious due to my lack of knowledge in the trade but after 3 months I feel very confident in my abilities. This course to me was definitely worth it in my opinion. I will use the skills and knowledge I have gained for the rest of my life. Although a brief time, I will always remember how amazing of an instructor and teacher Mario is and I am truly thankful in many ways to have been taught by him.

I would highly recommend STC-Barrie Campus for anyone looking to jumpstart a career in the relevant trades.In just under three months I have gained a solid foundational knowledge and the skills necessary to tackle an Electrical Apprenticeship with confidence. My course instructor - Mario (himself a Master Electrician with decades in the field), has planned out a thoughtful and effective curriculum that quickly layers skill upon skill and backs it up with focused pratice. He is constantly reevaluating and fine tuning the course so it remains relevant and, as much effort as the student is willing to put in, he will answer with direction and support.The facilties and tools are professional level and the relationships the College has made in the Electrical Industry are invaluable when it comes to sourcing work at the end of the program.I believe it was an excellent investment of both my time and money, with STC willing to put the same into my training.All in all: very satisfied.

STC has been an incredible 3 month program. Mario the master electrician who was the instructor for my class demonstrated an excellent approach to teaching. As someone who has not understood math and done well with academically in previous education facilities Mario was able to break down and teach the material so that it was easy to grasp and understand. Even with issues of working night shifts Mario was extremely understanding and accommodating as to make sure my education was a success. Definitely worth the leap of faith into a 3 month condensed program as I'm leaving here with an bigger idea with what is required of me going to continue to pursue a career as an Electrician. Thank you STC but more importantly thank Mario Debono for being a great instructor.

Practical Hands-On skill thanks to an excellent instructor Made this course worthwhile. Though their were limitations due to the college itself our instructor Mario made up for it in Spades, without him I daresay this would have been a disaster. His willingness to both show and to review with us problems and issues made it that I was able to adapt my mistakes and come to grips with what is needed to become an electrician. Overall his method of Madness helps break down complicated issues and makes them more approachable.

Good atmosphere, good people. Lots of hands on experience with residential and commercial projects. I just completed the 3 month Electrical program at the Barrie campus. Mario, a master electrician, was a excellent instructor. I can't say enough good things about him. His teaching techniques and ability to convey information made learning easy. The knowledge gained through him will most definitely set me up for the future.
