Yamnuska Hall
Very reasonable summer rates for single occupancy. Nice and quiet, clean, new but simple rooms with shared kitchenette and full washroom with shower. Breakfast's included...remember your own utensils; microwave and fridge...but no toaster or coffee maker. Close to Mac Hall and Yamnuska has a few ammenties (like Subway - lower level South Entrance). City Transit Circle routes 72, and 73 out the door with 2 city Ctrain stations within walking distance. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent Hotel alternative for the price (40-60 Canadian Dollars/night; summer rate.)

This is probably the second best residence hall on the University of Calgary campus. The apartments are new and nice. The big downside is that the apartments lack a kitchen so any cooking has to be done in the community kitchens

More modern and convenient compared to the first year buildings that are offered on campus of UofC. However the one difference is that this building does not have the tunnel system. Also the community life here is almost nonexistent if you look at the first year dorms as comparison.

The fridge that is provided is way too small for 3 people to share. I wish there was a full kitchen like in Cascade Hall but I guess that's a way to push the students to buy meal plans. The washing machines are disgusting and they do not clean well. I literally need to clean people's dirt and hair that is stuck between the plastic door seal/door gasket (the plastic circular thing inside the washine machine) every time before I use the washing machine. It sucks that there are no tunnels (especially in the winter). Lastly, there is a no pet policy however CA's are allowed to have pets? (In this case, I'm talking about a particular TA having a dog on residence) Isn't that unfair? Other than that, the rooms and the bathroom is okay.

This is one of two of the best residences on the University of Calgary campus for undergrad students of any year. It’s a newer building. First year student have to apply really early to guarantee a room in Yamnuska Hall. It’s location is quite far from the rest of the campus however. The Subway, Starbucks, and domino’s pizza are very convenient for quick bites. There’s a gym in the basement, laundry room, entertainment/ games room, study areas, a common room on every floor. The main entrance foyer is also a pleasant place to meet guests. Overall I think this is the best residence hall on campus and I would recommend it to anyone.

Very nice place to live, bedrooms furniture are really good! But has small living room space! (Specially in the case of 2 people room)It has multiple great lounges for students on each floor and even a small gym in the basement, but has no underground connection to move around campus on harsh winters.

This only pops up because I walk past it regularly, but hey, it's a landmark we use to talk about directions...so 5 stars!

Nice place. Stayed here for four days during our daughter’s volleyball Nationals tournament. All in all, a good place to stay for not a-lot of money. Rooms are pretty secure but feel pretty industrial. Each pid has three rooms with a single double bed, a dresser, a book case, a desk and a drawer unit under the bed.Feels like a relatively new place so it was surprising to not find built-in USB chargers in the wall plugs (4 in each room).Has kitchenette with apartment-sized fridge, microwave a sink and some cupboards. No dishes or anything of the sort. The bathroom has a shower with a seat and curtain, a sink and cupboard and toilet. The pods are hard floors and wheelchair accessible (even though the hallway has carpet)The hall has a great, large meeting/lounge room on each floor, four elevators and four stairwells at the end of each wing. Each room has its own temperature control which is good when people like to sleep at different temperatures. (When we went, the beds were made up with rudimentary but comfortable flat sheets and a thin wool woven blanket) Depending the time of the year you visit/stay, you might want to ask for an extra blanket or simply bring your own. There is no decoration on the walls and there is evidence of removed decorations on the room walls (duct tape/scotch tape/sticky tape glue).

Dorm has a Subway, which would normally net it 5 stars, but it does not have Morbius thus only 4/5 stars
