Morning Star Log Cabin & Bunkieland
We stayed in the tiny bunkie house, a new building since Summer 2022. There is a small bathroom cabin, a laundry room cabin with outdoor sink, a kitchen cabin with small appliances and dishes, and 2 bunkie loft cabins for sleeping. Probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on!! This was a great little hideway (only 4 minutes from Nelson). It was easy and convenient to get to, gave privacy and seclusion that a hotel cannot give, but is still close to town for food, activities, etc. The views are amazing, in the day or at night! Watched the stars from my bed. Maria was an incredible hostess and totally surprised me with her kindness, friendliness, and help! She truly came to our rescue when we had vehicle trouble and needed a place to stay at the last minute. Would totally recommend this bunkie cabin for a unique change over the typical hotel.

We are not avid reviewer writers, but we felt compelled to write one for our Morning Star Log Cabin stay. The cabin is located a short drive up the mountain and has a wonderful view over looking the town of Nelson and lake. The cabin it self is super clean and very well organized with all the amenities you would possibly need. The owner Maria is amazing person and very accommodating. There is much more to say, but just know this is a 5 start stay for an affordable price!

Morning Star Log Cabin & Bunkieland
Morning Star is a cozy log cabin with modern amenities and a high standard of decor and cleanliness. It’s in a semi-rural residential area, only 5 minutes drive from the centre of Nelson. Maria is an excellent host. Her emails were informative and she met us on arrival, offering helpful suggestions on local attractions and activities. Nelson is a beautiful city with lots to do and great places to eat. We would definitely stay here again!

Morning Star Log Cabin & Bunkieland
Maria is an outstanding host. When we arrived, it was a beautiful afternoon with a great first impression of the Bunkieland compound. Our cabin was cozy and conveniently located near to the shower/bathroom cabin and also to the beautifully appointed kitchen cabin. Unfortunately for us elders the steps up to the loft bedroom were too steep so we managed on a ground floor sofa bed. It was an adventure ! The next morning I approached Maria for help in relocating our reservation due to this detail and she spent two hours finding us the perfect replacement accommodation. Her expediency, reassurance and kind demeanour made it all work out and we left her accommodation feeling valued and heard. In the future we will know to book the main cabin that has all of the normal amenities. The Bunkies have an abundant amount of character artistic details that creative spirits will surely appreciate ! Susan and Santo October 2022

Morning Star Log Cabin & Bunkieland
We booked Morning Star Log Cabin for a week-long vacation, and we're so glad that we found it! It's close enough to the city centre that we could drive there in five minutes, but the setting feels rural, which is exactly what we wanted. After spending the day exploring Nelson, it was like coming home to a relaxing retreat. It was so quiet! Sitting on the front porch we had an amazing view of the lake and surrounding mountains, and on many days we were visited by a couple of fawns who grazed in the yard. The cabin had pretty much everything we could need, including a full kitchen which came in handy on the evenings when we didn't feel like going to a restaurant. Maria came to speak with us on the first evening we were there, and she offered many helpful suggestions about things to see and do in and around Nelson. We ended up taking many of her suggestions, and they made it easy to explore and see the highlights. The only suggestion we might make is that it would have been helpful to have an air conditioner in the living area. There is one in the bedroom, so it was easy enough to sleep, but it didn't really cool down the rest of the cabin. However, this is a minor issue, and Nelson happened to be experiencing a heatwave the week we were there, so most likely this wouldn't be a problem for other vacationers. We wish we had booked for two weeks instead of just one, but at least we know that we'll be back there again, and hopefully soon. Thanks for everything Maria!

What an absolutely perfect place to stay for a small group. My sister and I stayed at Morning Star Cabin and everything was way beyond our expectations. The cabin was stocked with all the cooking supplies we needed, and everything was setup up beautifully and perfectly. Maria was so kind, the view was fantastic and the area was quiet and beautiful. Would definitely recommend staying here and hope to come back in the future!

Our stay at bunkieland was wonderful. Mariah is an amazing host and the accommodations are so comfortable, clean and quiet. The location is awesome if you’re looking to mountain bike. The facilities are amazing with everything you could ever need in the kitchen and the full bathroom is very nice. The kitchen was awesome as we made breakfast every morning and had pre dinner snacks and drinks in the evening. We loved hanging out in Nelson and will definitely be back to bunkieland!

My stay was wonderful! I loved the location! The cabin is warm and cozy and sparkling clean with all the amenities you need! On top of that it’s a great value! The cabin is conveniently located five minutes from down town Nelson, and is close to the turn off to White Waters Ski Area. The staff were all helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. I highly recommend!
