Big Hill Pottery

Tucked up off the highway near Baddeck, discover the beautiful pottery and oil paintings of Linda Wright at Big Hill Pottery. I first learned of her when a relative visiting from Ontario requested we find her studio as she used to buy her pottery when she was living in Ontario. From plates and dishes to stemless wine goblets, mugs, vases and more, it is always worth the stop to see what beautiful pieces Linda has available.

Absolutely love my mug - my partner and I were on a mission to leave our Cape Breton trip with a new coffee mug, and Big Hill Pottery did not disappoint! Linda is lovely to chat about her work with. Definitely worth the trip a little ways into her shop! ☺️☕️

Loved the pottery but it was bad timing for us because the potter had just taken a lot of her inventory to a shop in Sydney.

Visiting Big Hill pottery is considered an experience. My first visit contact with Linda was many years ago when I needed a water jug to take to Germany for some friends. When I arrived at the studio I was welcomed by Linda who, lucky for me, was spinning some mugs at the time. We had a great chat and I learned a little about the process of making pottery. Her pottery is very well crafted and the glazes are stunning. Since then Ive acquired my own collection of her work. I especially love her mugs with the thumb rest on the handle, very unique. My second favorite is the mixing bowl which I use daily for my eggs. I never miss an opportunity to visit Big Hill when I am in Baddeck.
