As previous reviewers have said, this is the only authentic Japanese place in town (though I love North American-style Japanese as well!). Sushi rolls were fresh and delicately prepared. Also loved the hand-made ramen noodles. Nice atmosphere.

Having come here almost a dozen times in a half-year, Sanbiki is without a doubt in my Top 3 for restaurants in Kamloops and easily takes the crown for best Japanese restaurant. It's authentic even as it adapts to the local ingredients, always fresh and tasty, priced to match its quality, and (maybe most importantly) keeps to the spirit of Japanese cuisine. I honestly feel like no corners are cut in the preparation of their food. The service is friendly without being pushy or sticky-sweet (I'm looking at you, burger and steak joints of Lower Sahali), and the interior takes Japanese minimalism and adds a kind of rustic, homey warmth. It breaks my heart that more people don't know about Sanbiki: It just may be the best-kept secret in downtown.P.S. Their sushi a la carte is their shining point, but make sure to try the fried tonkatsu pork if you get a chance!

Went for dinner and came back for lunch the next day. Compared to some other places I've been to, less fish in the chirashi and less meat in the ramen. BUT the flavours are great. Friendly service.

Food was good and staff very polite. Some other reviewers saying the staff were rude , but I honestly find that hard to believe. I think they might be mistaking a slight language barrier with rudeness. In my opinion I think the food is a little pricier compared to other authentic Japanese restaurants in the area offering the same or similar menu, but the quality is definitely good.

Soup was horrible owner was extremely rude ... My soups broth had the texture of slime all the seafood in my soup had been over cooked to make it rubbery and gross. I literally had one taste of my soup and didn't like it wanted to and it back and the owner said no I can't waste it ... We ordered calamari and asked if r the rings wanted to make sure I didn't get the little baby squids what do I get a plate full of baby squids ... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT GOING HERE IF U WANT POLITE COSTOMER SERVICE.

Don't be fooled by So called Japanese Restaurants in Kamloops. This is the only authentic Japanese restaurant in the city. It serves traditional Japanese comfort food with a little bit of sushi for those who don't know much about Japanese cooking. The only comment to the owner is maybe a little too much AGEMONO.

Sanbiki has excellent food and I usually get take-out from them at least once a month as a treat. However, after my experience today I will not go back. Their Ramen soups are a favourite of mine and the Ankake Ramen at $12 per bowl is a 'treat' that I could only occasionally afford. I checked out their web menu then called to order and when I picked it up I was told it was $15 now (despite their website advertising at $12 still). They didn't honour the advertised price when I brought it up and when I explained that I wouldn't be back if it was that expensive now, the man helping me didn't seem concerned at all that he'd lost a customer. It's too bad... I'll miss their food... but $15 for a bowl of soup is outrageous... especially when it only has 2 prawns in it...

Ordered about 6 appetizer dishes. Sushi was ok salmon sashimi ok prawn tempura was great same with the pot stickers (gyozas) ordered octopus sashimi and it came out warm the waitress told us because it just came from a boil. Thought I wouldn’t like it but still tried to give it a go and sure enough wasn’t what I was looking for. Told the waitress nicely that it just wasn’t what we expected especially considering it was $21. The owner came over and explained its how it has to be done in Canada. We told him fair enough but it just wasn’t fresh and of course you expect sashimi to be chilled not warm. Could hear the server and chef bickering it sounded like in the back. Made us kind of uncomfortable. They were friendly but should have just taken it off without coming to tell us that’s how it’s supposed to be. He told us he took it off the bill for us which we would hope they would do and settled up and left. A bit awkward I felt they were trying to be friendly but we won’t be returning.
