Stayed at Unilofts for one night. Our first room we could not stay in because it smelt so badly of cigarette smoke in a non smoking room it was sickening. We ended up moving to another room where our key card stopped working twice and we got locked out at 1am. And then the toilet stopped working in the second room. Not a great experience at all.

Our stay at Unilofts Grande-Allee Hotel exceeded our expectations based on previous reviews. We booked here for Carnaval & wanted an authentic old-world charm type of experience. If we were after a ‘cookie cutter’ type of hotel we would have booked at one of the several chain hotels in the area & in my opinion some of the negative reviewers on here should probably stick to those types of accommodations so they know exactly what they are getting. It was a cool old building & our room was probably a living room in the house at one time..? The big bonus was a jacuzzi tub right in the mail living area of our room!We were fortunate enough to get one of the parking spots behind the hotel but the public lot was only about 1/2 a block away if there had been no spaces available at the hotel. The hotel is located right in the thick of the action & the street in-front of the hotel was actually closed for the Carnaval festivities so our plan was to walk everywhere anyway.Staff at the hotel were very friendly & accommodating - even providing us with some extra coffee packets to help warm us up during one of our warming sessions back in our room…..not a big deal but a nice gesture just the same. Thanks for a pleasant stay & if anyone was looking for a similar old world adventure experience I would definitely recommend people ignore the negative reviews & book with confidence at Unilofts Grande-Allee Hotel.

This place may be dated, but their bed and pillow are really nicer than the expensive hotel we stayed at (Chateau Laurier) The front desk agent (too bad I didn’t get to ask his name but we checked in June 12 at 4:PM, he has brown curly hair) At check in, we were supposed to be on the second floor, but seeing that we has a baby he moved us to the first floor. He was sooo nice and very accommodating. As we were about to head out, it started raining really hard and before we could even ask , he offered to lend us their umbrella! You can also access the pool at the concorde hotel, cause I think this is a budget hotel of their company. And it was nice and clean as well.Definitely recommend this to travellers who are on a budget and even if you have the budget this place is amazing and even though theyre right at the street where bands play, it wasnt that bad because they have good soundproofing. It doesnt totally cancel out the noise but it is good enough.Thank you for a wonderful stay! Especially to that front desk agent! I appreciate your thoughtfulness and kindness.

We stayed in a quirky room. The basin is in the bedroom and not in the bathroom.?The floor was not cleanThe room was just acceptable for a night. Sad, as we stayed here in 2016 and it was better.

Room was nice and staff was friendly and attentive. Parking was very limited, jets didn't work in the hot tub and one tv was bugged but the location and proximity makes up for the nitpicks. Overall a very pleasant experience.

I'll be honest, I was expecting at best a 3 star accommodation, but it exceeded my expectations and I was pleasantly surprised. Some of the information that's listed online and at the information booklets at the property is outdated though. There is no fourth floor with a spa and pool. They used to have an arrangement with a neighboring hotel, but no longer do. Also, you won't get locked out after 11 PM, as someone mentioned.I like that they don't put up with noisey guests, and that it's conveniently located next to several good restaurants and attractions. It's an easy walk to the Old Quarter. The microwave and fireplace were a pleasant surprise, that we weren't expecting. I do wish they had more options for city views and two beds though. Canadian faucets and showers are a little confusing to operate, but my biggest issue however was the lack of bar soap in the bathroom. The liquid soap they have is not the best for washing your body. This is the first hotel I've stayed at that didn't have bar soap. They also seem a little short staffed. I was surprised there were only two receptionists and only one or two housekeepers.Would also be nice if they served breakfast, as most restaurants in town don't open until 11 AMThe location is great, the rooms are nice, and the staff is helpful, but I do think it's a little expensive, for the lack of amenities and guest services.

This hotel has a charming old world feel and is well located. The good stuff stops there. On our first night we were given a room without a window. (The only window was in the bathroom, and it was easily 7ft off the ground. That has to be a fire hazard.) We objected, and were moved to another room, which only had one bed when we had specifically booked for two beds because we had kids with us. We were given a twin foldaway cot. The air conditioning didn't work in the new room and the window was part of an emergency door that backed into an alley. We asked to have a room with two double beds the next night and we were moved to new room when we arrived back at the hotel in the evening, but the sink was clogged. We couldn't brush our teeth or our kid's teeth. Maintenance took an hour to arrive, they used a toilet plunger in our sink, got plumbing gunk all over the place, and were rude when we asked if they could clean it up. I begged for a functional room so we could put our kids to bed, and it took them an hour to move us into their other establishment. I was told that the pictures of the hotel didn't guarantee that we would get one of those nice looking rooms. That's maybe acceptable, but generally windows and functional plumbing aren't special requests. Not a good experience and I would not recommend the hotel.

Small rustic rooms. Friendly staff. No AC in the rooms. And the place seems to always be a little warmer than you would want it. Great location. Within walking distance of many many places. Many restaurants are right outside.

This hotel is very well located. The maintenance man was a delight as was the staff I spoke to on the phone. Unfortunately the room itself was dated, not well maintained and not as clean as one would expect ( see shower photos for moldy grout). The beds are not very comfortable, the pillows small. AC was adequate but took time to cool the room. In fairness it was 32C outside. There was a leak in the ceiling of the main lobby with recycle bins catching the drips. No staff at the desk due to labour shortage so we checked in at another hotel and walked to this one. We regret our stay.

Not enough parking for everyone so you end up having to look for a public one. Room was discusting. Hair and dust everywhere, even found a sanitary towel behind the small fridge. Noise was also terrible. Walls are made of cardboard and you can hear everyone walking around in the hotel. Honestly, worst hotel we have visited. We ended up leaving in the middle of the first night because we could not stand it anymore. We did not get reimbursed for the 2 remaining nights. They said management would call us a few days later and never received any call. Don't go there, it's just awful.
