Kitchener-Waterloo Skating Club

Really disappointed with my son's skating experience.We did two seasons with the club, and cancelled our third.The teachers don't engage with the students, and don't seem to have any patience for the young skaters.My son is 4 and had a difficult time. He received more support from the young volunteers than the actual teachers.The lessons are boring and repetitive. Drawing lines on the ice and asking a 4 year old to follow them for an hour is not engaging.I was also not impressed by the rude comment written on my son's report card.If you're going to work with children learn some patience and understanding.We will not be returning.

100% agree with the other 1 star reviews. This club does not support skaters, deliberately slowing them down and actively discourages them, they create a bullying and toxic environment to achieve this. To hide their horrible customer service and mismanagement of the entire club, they have recently gotten “friends” of coaches to leave FAKE 5 star reviews to pull up their rating before the new registration season. Glad we've left like so many others, it’s a shame and a waste bc the club is in a good location with great ice (which is even maintained by the city, not the club),. Hope someone takes over the business, the club is HORRIBLE, completely in shambles. As fellow reviewers have said, DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE, IT’S A SCAM AND WILL MAKE KIDS LOSE INTEREST IN THE SPORT.

By far the worst program i've seen. They are supposed to be a 'learn to skate' program, yet no beginners are on the ice. They don't spend any time teaching the kids, they just expect them to skate and do activities, the coach do not spend time with individual skaters to adjust, correct, encourage, or teach the students.

I would like to mention that coaches play a vital role in any skill development and it's not easy to be a teacher. I still remember my first class, where I was too scared as an adult to hop on the ice and now I can skate. Aidan is a great instructor with a great level of patience. He explains the steps and technique very well. He will give you time to practice during the session and keep monitoring you, and corrects you at the same time. He also teaches all his students with equal attention. One needs to also trust their instructor to overcome their fear. Thank you, Aidan. Thank you KWSC CanSkate Waterloo

We enrolled our granddaughter into skating lessons and she's absolutely loving it. She's getting a lot of attention and building her confidence. The coaches are great and the enrollment process was easy enough. Definitely recommend.

We are extremely pleased with the coaching our children have received through the Kitchener-Waterloo Skating Club and the Twin City Hockey Skating School.

I have been so impressed with KWSC. They are organized, consistent and the coaches are beautifully complimentary and interchangeable. My daughter has fallen in love with skating and I credit KWSC with having provided a positive and uplifting platform that kicked that off!

My son was enrolled in the Parent/Tot learn to skate program. We attend two lessons and didn't find value in the program as we were expecting more instructor time with the tots. Instead we were pretty much left to sit on the ice with very little instruction.We decided to request a refund and possibly try bringing him back next year when he was a little older.They chose to only refund us $60? So 2 lessons cost me $96.60 each?? We will not be returning next year or any other year to the Kitchener-Waterloo Skate Club.

Such a wonderful environment for my daughter to learn how to skate. Her coach is attentive and caring and always makes my daughter feel proud. A positive experience every time we’re there.

I signed my child up for beginner classes due to the positive reviews. It turned out to be a terrible experience. Then I realized the 5 star reviews were given by a “friend” of the skating club. (See screenshots) This place is such a SCAM. I strongly encourage you to go for a trial class and observe.
