Ottawa Denture & Implant Centre

I currently live 9 thousand kms from Ottawa and while visiting my Mom on her 97th birthday I discovered that she had lost her lower denture. This little problem grew larger because Mom has Alzheimer's and lives in a secure unit at the Ravine Retirement Residence and I was leaving in two days. I sat down with the Director of Care, Dianne Talbot, and started an internet search for a denture clinic that did house calls. The first clinic didn't answer their phone and the second was answered by a very professional sounding woman. I described the situation and was immediately put at ease. Her name is Shelley Perras and she is the office manager of the clinic. Shelley arranged to have Dr. Irhan Arifovski go out and start the process. Two more visits over 9 days and Mom has a new lower denture. No fuss....No muss....and I had peace of mind knowing that Mom's quality of life had returned.Would I recommend their team? You bet! Give them a call.....ask for Shelley....and tell her Doug sent you!

THE WORSE EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE - TERRIBLE WORKMANSHIP ON NEW DENTURES - TOTALLY DISSATISFIED. WAS REFUSED COMPENSATION.ALL WAS WRONG ABOUT MY NEW DENTURES (upper and lower). Bad fitting, extremely painful and uncomfortable, bad teeth alignment (could not eat with them anything at all) and looked totally unfinished. These dentures were made to fit a new integrated-bar system (the worst ever). This integrated bar require a cut-out denture version that misses the back teeth which are essential to chew with (I was not told that). This cut-out denture exposes all the hardware at a drop of a lip (it is nothing like the standard full denture meant to fit like gloves). All food get stuck under it this cut-out version. To remove it is next to impossible, not to say IMPOSSIBLY. I WAS NOT TOLD WHAT I WOULD GET IN THE END, WAS NOT PRESENTED WITH PHYSICAL SAMPLES. AS THE WORK PROGRESSED, I WAS NEVER SHOWN THE HARDWARE. ANY WONDER???I discovered everything (5 months later) after I paid ($9000) and got home and could not eat and was in agonizing pain.I communicated at length my countless problems, pain and hideous look of these dentures. I was offered to return to have another denture made up but I refused on the premise that IF MR. MacLEAY COULD NOT SEE THE OBVIOUS MISFIT AND HIDEOUSNESS OF THE PRODUCT HE PLACED IN MY MOUTH IN THE FIRST PLACE, WHY SHOULD I TRUST HIM TO DO BETTER THE SECOND TIME AROUND?Not only this INTEGRATED-BAR-SYSTEM IS A TERRIBLE SYSTEM FOR THE DENTURE WEARER, THE WORKMANSHIP OF MR MacLEAY WAS EQUALLY TERRIBLE. I requested a compensation so I could go elsewhere to have the entire work redone. They skillfully justified their positions about my complaints and REFUSED TO COMPENSATE me for the loss of money, time, pain and hardship in the process. I have had to GO ELSEWHERE, have another implant system put in and another set of denture made up, which cost me another $10,000. Which, thank God, is perfect 10/10. There are still some proud denturists out there...Based on my very expensive experience at the MacLeay's clinic, I DO NOT RECOMMEND them to anyone, neither for implants nor for denture making. I had great expectations and hopes that this clinic could make me a satisfactory denture (as can be read on a previous review HC). I WAS SADLY TOTALLY WRONG. If the quality workmanship was there in the past, it is no longer there. They continue to look professional and say the right things, but when comes time to invest $9,000 one should trust the reviews for related works. If the reviews are not there, search elsewhere where related work will speak favorably. See photos for 1/2 inch long implants abutments and the lack of finish to lower denture, which does not make justice to the ugliness and discomfort of this thing. Upper denture was totally unfitted and unwearable.

I am 71 years old. This is my second set of dentures with Robert MacLeay, the first one lasted me 17 years without any problems ever. The second is in the making following some implants surgery and I have all confidence that it will be as perfect as the first one. Mr. MacLeay is extremely respectful of the person, looking for the best interest of his client, he takes time to explain all carefully and simply. He and his staff are extremely knowledgeable and professional and I have all confidence that his work will be as perfect as can be. For the comment on one of the post that the work needs to be paid upfront, hinting at some illegitimate scheming, this is not quite true, but it must be paid when the material and work is to be invested. The investment is significant for both the clinic and the patient. Mr. MacLeay, clinic is totally honest and ethical beyond reproach.

My wife had her partials made by Erhan and he was wonderful, accommodating even for adjustments. Since he left they have not replaced him so Dr MacLeay has to see patients for adjustments. He is short with you because you are bothering him, ie: taking him away from his practice!!! I guess because he is not getting paid for adjustments. Even when you try to book an actual appointment his admin always says he is so busy, might be able to squeeze me in, like I’m a nuisance. Last time they fit me in I waited 1.5 hours in the waiting room, then another half in the room until I said I would have to reschedule as now I was having a diabetic low, not expecting to wait that long. Funny he came in right away. The thing about this is that an adjustment only takes 5-10 minutes. Again once they have your money for the product they don’t want to be bothered again. Kerri and Dr Gaudet on the dental side of the office are wonderful, too bad they’ve lost my family as patients because of Dr MacLeay’s treatment of my wife.As per Dr MacLeay's response, not once did come in as a walk in, I had an appointment with the hygienist then when the dentist came in for the exam she noticed that my gum was inflamed and I mentioned that my partial had been hurting me. It was Dr Gaudet who asked the hygienist to go and ask if I could be seen for an adjustment. If he could not see me they could have given me an appointment which I did mention to Lisa the hygenist before she went to speak to him. I know that it is not a walk in clinic and when I do call to make an appointment for an adjustment his admin always advises me they are extremely busy and I would have to be seen in between patients, hence sit and wait. I would think they would have appointments they could schedule for adjustments but I guess if he is not getting paid then it's a waste of his time. When I had these made Erhawn had advised me I could call and be seen for adjustments for the rest of my life. Funny thing is Dr MacLeay advised me that it was easy to blame the partials but it could be my toothbrush or my night guard or something I ate that had caused the inflamation. I have had no pain since the adjustment and no inflamation, guess it was the partials. Maybe now that they are hiring a replacement for Erhawn, Dr MacLeay won't have to bother with these petty matters anymore but concentrate on where he makes the most money.

Kudos to Robert Macleay and his staff. Robert took the time to carefully evaluate my needs, then propose a suitable solution. He and his team shortly after produced a marvellous appliance that addressed all of my concerns. I am not hesitant to call him an artist"

Brought my 97 father in for a free consultation. They spent a little over an hour evaluating and discussing treatment options. No pressure even though my father decided not to go ahead. Very professional.

I had the privilege of working for Robert Macleay before making a change in career paths (had this not been the case I would have stayed there until retirement!). It was hands down the best office that I had ever worked at!Robert is a wonderful man, a great employer, and an extremely talented denturist. Having previously worked for other dental professionals I had never seen any of them put the time, care and concern into their work and the treatment of their patients that he does. I cannot even count the number of times that I had seen patients so incredibly grateful to him, and even crying tears of joy at the new smiles he was able to provide them with. It was truly a blessing to have the pleasure to see these patients so delighted and be a part of their experience.Many of his patients felt so comfortable within the office that they would just stop by for coffee and a chat.I can assure you that he spends ample time with his patients (from time to time even running behind schedule) to ensure that he has explained to them the full procedure, shown them all of the 'parts' and answered all of their questions so that they felt comfortable and confident with the next steps.His patients also have the opportunity to have multiple try ins of their new teeth with photos taken at these appointments to ensure they are fully satisfied and comfortable with the fit and appearance before the dentures are completed. His dentures are truly custom made! I had no idea the process was so complex and extensive.The care and compassion that he gives to each patient, and the quality of work he puts out is incredible. The dentures he makes with the help of his skilled lab technicians are so well crafted that you would never know without the patient telling you that they aren't their natural teeth.I have the utmost respect for Robert as both a denturist and a person, and so much confidence in his work that I would highly recommend him, and am so thankful that I had the opportunity to be a part of such an incredible team!
