I think the recent reviews are a bit harsh. I thought the food wasn't spectacular and is fairly average. Service was just fine. The restaurant is tucked into the back of a small square near Metrotown, clean and relaxed vibe.

Kiku Sushi Metrotown
Found this fantastic little gem of a restaurant about a year ago.Came back a few weeks ago and have become a weekly regular.Every week the chef creates a more beautiful work of art than the last for my son.Staff are friendly, attentive, and the food is as delicious as it is stunning.Update: Continue to be amazed by the service here!

This place is a solid 4 stars. Consistent with food. Sushi isn't the freshest I've had but its not bad either. Prices are very good. Lunch specials are better. Great for last minute dining. Their service is fast and it can get busy at times. Great selections to pick from and great presentation of dishes. Update: preordering and picking up or dining in is a very pleasant experience if you call 15minutes before getting there.

Sashimi was solid. Oyster motoyaki was smaller but flavourful. Scallops wrapped in bacon were tasty as well. Service was a mixed bag. Person who seated me looked grumpy but server who took my further requests and ultimately brought the bill was cheery and friendly. I’d try it again. Especially because good places with Uni are harder to find.

Tasty? Yes, but definitely NOT Japanese flavor. The beef hot pot taste like Hong Kong style creamy soup, taste very good but not authentic. The chicken karage is too hard and dry. Tuna tataki is good. Sake is almost double price of other Japanese restaurant. Gyoza is too soft. Chicken skewer has too much sauce which is not Japanese style. And it awkward when their sushi bar staffs complaint about their boss in Mandarin...it's very loud and I do understand Mandarin. Good part: service is very quick, the waitress ladies are friendly, and good atmosphere inside

One of our go-to place around the Metrotown area for Japanese food. Their menu is pretty extensive and you can find things like bento boxes, sushi, sashimi, robata, etc...Good selection of sashimi and they also have some mix-and-match combo meals.Lunch bentos are better value than their dinner ones. Nabenyaki udon was huge. Beef tataki could be better.

They messed up our reservation by giving it away to another party with also 4 adults and 2 kids. However we were able to get another table quickly and they try to make it up by giving us some fresh fruits at the end. The kids love the fruits. The food was decent.

Kiku Sushi Metrotown
No frills, but clean, eatery near Metrotown (across from London Drugs). They have a good selection and are slightly pricier than other sushi places in the area like Sushi Garden. Service was good, and they'd come around to refill our tea frequently. Have been here for dinner a number of times over the years, and haven't had any issues. They're more popular for take out orders than dine in, so reservations aren't typically needed for dinner in our experiences.

Kiku Sushi Metrotown
I have been dining and taking out at the Kiku Sushi restaurant for multiple years now. Not only is the food amazing, but so is the atmosphere of the restaurant. I enjoy taking my kids there for a nice evening dinner, and the servers are extremely welcoming. Below I’ve attached a photo of some take out I got for myself the other night. In my opinion, Kiku Sushi is one of the best restaurants in the Burnaby area!

OMG… the teriyaki was soooo wet and beef was over cooked. Aburi sushi are terrible… they over-fired those fish, so the fish were so dried. And the source, was added too much, so you barely can taste the fish. Service is not so good as well… not recommend.
