I’ve gotten my hair done from Katie twice already - first time was a balayage and second time she followed up with me to get it re toned! I have super long and thick hair and both times it turned out amazing! She was very patient with me while I asked lots of questions regarding what she was doing and she gave lots of advice on after hair care. Can’t wait to see what she does with my hair next time :)

Had a great experience here with stylist Katie. She was so pleasant and did an amazing job on my hair (cut and colour). My hair turned out exactly how I had envisioned it in my head despite me not giving her much guidance. I will definitely be back to see her again!

This place has a fantastic vibe! Of all the salons I’ve been to, I’ve never felt more heard in what I’d like in my hair. I see Kim, and the care and input she puts into your visit is unmatched. She makes sure to find exactly what you’d like and won’t let you leave until you’re completely happy with your hair. Kim is an amazing hair dresser and has always given me the hair colour and cut I’m looking for - she works with your hair type and always given me a new look that’s everything I was hoping for and more. I could not recommend Kim enough!!!

Although the staff is very welcoming and friendly the technicians I have experienced did not take responsibility for errors on their part. I was made to feel intimidated to mention their mistakes. It is unjust to spend $200 - $1000 + tip and not recieve quality results.My Avenue Experiences1. 3-4yrs ago I had extensions put inI was concerned that i wouldnt be happy with the colors available and asked if i could get them dyed to a color that made me feel more comfortable. The technician proceeded to talk me into getting them reassuring me that once they were in I would love them.Unfortunately I was correct. Although I liked the extensions I did not like the color. Even tho I expressed my feelings in a very kind and gentle manor the salon did not like hearing my feedback. I felt condemned and gaslight for speaking my feelings.2. I was not enjoying the color. A friend recommended I see her stylist Josie. I had a consultation with Jose and I liked her and felt safe and was excited to proceed!.We decided to put a cooler slightly darker lowlight in my natural hair and that would compliment and and counteract the color of the extensions.Jose foiled my hair with highlights and fine weaved dark lowlights. The lowlights looked darker than I had expected but I wasn’t upset because I knew that would fade and noted to do lighter lowlights in the future.Although Jose did a very good job with the foils I was shocked when I saw the back of my head.Jose had taken liberty to put lowlights in my new hair extensions which was not what w discussed at all. She dyed the entire extension leaving me with thick black stripes of hair. It was so obvious it looked awful but she did not like me noticing it and i was accused of being difficult to please. This was very unfair especially because I had specifically told her to do only my natural hair. If she would have weaved fine foils I probably wouldn’t have noticed but the thick stripes were embarrassing.She made a sloppy attempt to bleach the black dye out but my extensions which permanently ruined and left blotchy and ugly.These very unpleasant experiences left me with fears and ptsd for hair appointments therefore I stayed out of salons for years.Recently I decided it was time to try again and the receptionist was kind and understanding and Recommended Heather.I saw Heather for a consultation. She was extremely understanding and heard my concerns due to past experiences I’ve had. She agreed that I was not treated fairly and that type of behaviour from stylists was unacceptable and reassured me I was finally in good hands.I had my hair done in December 2021 by Heather and I was happy with it other than I had asked for chunky blonde foils in the top section and they were done very fine and were barely visible. I gave her my feedback and she welcomed me to come back to get more put in.At the next appointment Heather was noticeably put off which made me uncomfortable and nervous. She proceeded to do the foils but I was perplexed when they were even finer than the first time!? I sat silently not being able to speak up because I felt intimidated that she would be angry if I did so I didn’t say anything and left less than completely satisfied again.My hair began to fall out after the service and continued to for a month. I naturally have very thin fine hair so this was extremely concerning for me. I called to let them know and see if i could find out what caused it in order to avoid it from ever happening again. (I was later reprimanded by Heather for making that call.)I let my hair heal for 6mos then decided to try again.I decided to try a different stylist because even tho I am always very gracious and careful to communicate in a non threatening manner I sensed Heather was unhappy that I voiced my concerns regarding my hair after her service.After expressing myself the receptionist was incredibly kind and suggested I see Wendy. Great place for men and women! However it is under new management and has changed its name;FROM: Sylvia & Co.TO: Avenue SalonSame great service. The front staff is very friendly and helpful the stylists are available at various skill levels (read that as variable pricing). Nevertheless the newer stylists are always under the supervision of the highly skilled. There are no haughty “airs” in this place, it is truly a place for young and old, singles and families.It is not unusual for the whole place to be in interactive communication. Customer to customer and the stylists mixing in.I really don’t like getting my haircut but I like it here!

Emma gives the most care in her haircuts and truly listens to my requests. I’ll never go to another hairdresser. shes the best! She genuinely cares about her clients and their experience.

I got my hair done by Katie and she was absolutely amazing! She gave me exactly what i asked for and i got so many compliments on my hair afterwards, she’s such a friendly person and made the appointment very enjoyable and the salon had a great environment. Will definitely be booking with her again!

This was my second time with Rebecca as my stylist. She has done an awesome job with my cuts. Pleasant to talk with. Will definitely continue seeing her.

Lise, thank you so much for taking me on as a client. You did an amazing job on my hair (my hair is difficult as it’s half curly ish and some what wavy) Lise listen to me made me feel comfortable and did an amazing job!
