Stony Plain Golf Course
One of my favorite courses around Edmonton. Pretty much always good condition, bunkers well maintained, and it's challenging but not too challenging - hits a nice middle ground in terms of difficulty. Always love coming back here.

Interesting holes give a real variety to the players. The greens were in great shape. The staff were terrific.

Nice course. Well maintained. It's is around a neighborhood and they are still building house around the course so be aware.Drink menu basic. Was looking for more local beers only a few. Food menu had great choices. My food was very good.Staff very friendly. Ate upstairs while my son finished the tournament. Hostess, Jill, was Extremely nice. It's municipal course.

Definitely one of my favorite courses in Edmonton. Nice and wide open, not a lot of shrubbery and fescue. Love the big trees that line the course between holes. This place is good condition affordable and some of my favorite greens in Edmonton

Course is in good shape but it seems like staff’s primary concern this year is doing as little work as possible and heading home early.Have heard multiple conversations with staff in the pro shop about how awesome it is there’s no twilight anymore so they get to go home earlier.Tonight went to go hit balls at the range around 6:30pm just to find it closed on a beautiful summer evening when posted hours on the website says last bucket sold at 7:00pm.I guess since this course is supplemented by tax payers they don’t have to worry about profitability.

This Norman H. Woods design is on of his best. Built back in the early 1980's it was once a wide open layout that over the years has matured in to a treelined work of art. The front nine is unique in these parts as it was designed in a T-shape. The first whole is a straight away 5-par that runs south to north. The second hole is a dogleg left that turns back south then bends east up a hill. The next three holes run straight east. You then turn around and play the next 3 holes westward. The ninth is a short 4-par that runs north to south parallel to the first hole. It is is similar to a links many links courses that run straight out one way then turn back to the club house. This is a fun course to play with its rolling terrain, but everything is right in front of use. There are no blind shots or tricked up holes. If you can keep your tee ball out of the trees you can hit driver on nearly every hole. The killer on this course are the 3-pars, they range from 150 yards to 200 yards but none of them are easy. Three of them are uphill and well bunkered, the long 14th is 200 yards long over water to a narrow strip with bunkers on the right and back of the green, If the wind is in your face, good luck. The tee boxes are in good condition and cut. The fairways are cut and the rough is thick but fair, the trees will give you more trouble than the rough. The greens are generally in good condition, freshly cut but a bit on the slow side. The new greens they planted a few years ago are really starting to mature. Given some time, I am sure the course will be in tip-top shape for the summer. They have a pretty good practice facility and a 3-par course if you want to sharpen your short game or take you kids out to play a quick round. It is one of the top courses in the area that everyone should get out and play every once in a while. The green fees are fair for the type of course and the condition.

We had a lovely time playing a round of golf and afterwards, enjoying the 19th hole for a meal and a beer. Service on the course and in the clubhouse (thanks Jill) was great. We played from the white tees, the course has a number of short holes, next time we will use the blues. By the practice putting service they have a spot for praying ones chipping. The driving range is a bit of a walk from the clubhouse but then does it matter. Course was in great shape.

I have a soft-spot for Stony Plain Golf Course, as I had a membership here as a junior player in the late 90s. I've always liked the layout, even if it isn't particularly challenging or unique. I especially like holes 14 & 15.The recent housing developments have negatively impacted the course, but it's still a decent track and is usually kept in good condition.

Really nice course with reasonable rates. Well maintained even after a huge rainstorm.
