A gem of a place in downtown Victoria. This is the spot to go to for sewing workshops, clothing swaps and a host of maker workshop, plus their retail store is awesome! The best selection of vintage buttons in Victoria by far! Also Jenny who owns it is a sweetheart. Well worth the visit whether you're local or a visitor.

Makehouse is like a community centre for those who love to sew or are aspiring to sew. The proprietor, Jenny, is an enthusiastic maker herself. Between her and her staff they can help you during Sewcials or classes. The store itself has plenty of neat fabrics and patterns and etc. You can also bring your long neglected sewing machine and blunt scissors for servicing. I've enjoyed my visits there and have always felt welcomed. I suspect you will too.

Haven’t purchased anything in store yet, only online. But my experience was great! My order was shipped quickly and packaged with care! Definitely recommend as an online supplier, and can’t wait to visit the store when COVID travel restrictions are lifted

I really enjoyed my experience here. The staff are knowledgeable, passionate, and generous with their time. The layout is really welcoming and amplifies creativity. The best aspect is the number of courses and sewing day camps they have offered. My kid is really looking forward to learning more while she hangs out with kids her age. Definitely check it out if you're in need of matierals, craft ideas, or lessons.

Not a large store, but all of their fabric seems to be of great quality. The women are very friendly and helpful. And an interesting selection of indie patterns.

Very kind staff!Brought in my old Kenmore in for a tune up, turnover was fast, and the price was right!Right away, I landed myself in some user error type problems, they graciously had me in to revisit a look at my problem in house. And presto! 5 mins later machine is happy, and me along with it.Thank you Kat, and rest of team!

Such a great shop! Large selection of patterns, fabrics, and much more. Everyone that works here is very friendly and informative. The sewing bootcamp class is amazing and I would highly recommend it.

This is the best fabric store I have ever visited! They offer excellent classes from very knowledgable staff. They will always take the time to help you find the right fabric/pattern/tools/etc for your project, and they are there to help with private lessons if you ever run into an unexpected speed bump in your projects! This little business does it all! I was even able to get some hard-to-find items here like all the buttons for my wedding dress alterations.
