Colour On Fire Art Studio & School

My wife and I have been going to adult classes on Tuesday mornings at Colour on Fire for over a year. We really look forward to them. Val, warm and friendly, is always on hand for advice or corrective action. We can see she also has a wonderful way with children in their classes. There are a hundred or more art samples to choose from and there are other art options to choose from. Val is very accommodating to change the timing of the classes if necessary. All in all, highly recommended. A great experience.

We booked this studio for my daughter's 30th birthday. Our first impressions were good; however, lasting impressions were not! Besides being wheelchair accessible there are no positive notes to mention. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Below are the problems we encountered.-The owner, Val provided minimal instruction and the pottery paint was not good quality.-5$ discount for each item was not honoured.- When the glazed products were picked up 4 had damage; however, there was significant damage to my daughter's mug. It was very obvious that repairs were attempted, but nothing was mentioned. Addtionally, the damage to all of the products appear to be contact damage, meaning that the items HIT each other.- When I contacted Val, she stated that typically if there is damage they attach a note. My question is how often does that happen and when if there is significant damage shouldn't there be an automatic refund?-I asked for a refund for the product with the most damage, only. We were offered a store credit for the mug, but nobody wanted to return to this facility.- I had to prove what they already knew- that they attempted to repair the damage on the on the mug.- After several emails, I was given a refund for the mug with the message, Done".-No apology was ever offered.Again

Our daughter started at Colour On Fire almost 3 years ago and still loves the art classes and camps today. She is always excited to show us her creations and to tell us what she learned about a drawing technique or material. The activities are both educational and fun and have further developed her inner artist. Our son is now looking forward to trying art class at COF this fall.

COF hosted my 8 year old daughters birthday party last week. The kids had an amazing time. The staff were very helpful and really made it fun. The party included a tour of the facility and children were taught about the process to finish their masterpieces. We picked up the finished products and they look fabulous. We will definitely be back to try one of their classes in the future.

Terrible service ...very rude ... I reported to call that my child is sick on Day 2 we weather is changing. I paid for full week of camp...Val told me that it is not her fault that my child is sick (wow! )They have a no refund policy in covid times where as my kid had to isolate in other camps and I was given a full refund. Times are tough and kids are bound to be sick but this treatment is uncalled for being a responsible parent. I'm disgusted.

I love how camp at COF is fun and educational. Kids get to work with watercolour, acrylic, charcoal, chalk and oil pastels, ink techniques, sketching technique and more. I am impressed by the art skills they are able to learn and demonstrate at the end of a camp day. Val and staff are engaged in camp activities and seem very qualified to be working with the kids. Kids said they not only had a good day but a great day! They are always excited to arrive and sad leave.

I am very disappointed by the way this studio owner conducts her business. I booked the Friday night out for our son 2 weeks in advance. The day before the lady notified me that the event was going to be cancelled because of the group cancellation. I was really surprised to find out later that they actually had a birthday party on that night.I would totally understand if she would be honest with me and asked me to reschedule my reservation but I don't appreciate to be lied to. Especially that I tried to help them by promoting their event on my son's school Facebook page.Very disappointed by business ethics of the owner.Will not recommend since you never know if they decide to bump you for some reason.

Be aware of the fine prints when booking a birthday party! $50 fee is only for booking the date/time. It does not indicate anywhere that it does not go towards to the final total (while it does at Color Me Mine) When they ask you how many kids are coming, you will be charged for the # of kids you are expecting instead of # of kids actually show up (sometimes sickness or emergencies). For example, if you tell them you are expecting 10 kids but one has family emergency and can't attend the party, you will still be charged for 10 even though 9 show up and still meeting the min of 8. Lots of parents now know about this and we won't go back and don't recommend this place.

Colour on Fire is fantastic and my kids have been going there for years. They always enjoy their time there and they have learnt many techniques including watercolour, acrylic, ink and chalk and oil pastels. Ms Val is great and my kids love her. I would highly recommend this place.

My child took the pm art camp over a week in the summer and absolutely loved it! She filled a sketch book with different techniques every day and also enjoyed the break time outside. Would recommend this class for any young art enthusiasts.
