Gatineau Expert Marine (repair)

Very unfriendly owners/service. Doubted that parts were correct fit for my boat because part numbers were not matching, ended up buying them anyway by being verbally reassured that parts should fit my boat (by a non-mechanic owner of a shop). Asked about the return policy and explained my worry. Person smiled with fake positivity and said no problem as long as they are not opened or used, you can return them. Stoped by at another marina and simply was able to find/ and buy exact match part number. Asked gf to return parts that were doubtful (one hour after original purchase). Ended up keeping half of their merchandise (parts that were not doubtful), returned only a half that was originally doubtful. To my surprise my gf was told not to come back ever again. (I regret not being there when this happened) I will take their advice and stay clear of this place in the future and make sure all my friends will stay clear too. How is returning incorrect parts all of a sudden offensive, especially if you just found one that matches exactly? May be she (owner/sales) is right, may be the parts are interchangeable but as a consumer I want to be safe and use the recommended part numbers. What is wrong with this? Nothing in my opinion. Good thing I can afford to retire early and not behave like these two. I will make sure to contact appropriate authorities to report this. Who know may be they will want to go after my trailer lights or truck windows now. Never seen anyone so upset over a partial purchase return. Cheers grumpy people! Boat owners, bring your business to positive people. I will personally help you fix your boats for free as long as you do not go to this place.

It’s been a long time since I have used a service that is concerned about satisfying the customer as a priority item. The proprietors JF and Nancy did this in so many ways:greeted pleasantly when we arrived, easy access to their facility, punctual which is a big thing with me, services were performed properly and furthermore did other things with about being asked(replace a seat partNC)!Their facility is second to none, neat clean, tidy and so accessible and we appreciated the positive comments from their staff and easy bilingual service.It’s so nice to find a business gem like this! I took a 15hp motor in for repair a year ago and have not been able to start it since. I recently took it to another shop where they diagnosed the problem and fixed it. When the motor was returned to me a year ago, all carburetor adjustments had been completely closed and therefore it was impossible to start. I would have expected the motor to be test run before it was returned to me but obviously it wasn't.

First time visit to have boat checked up. Great service so far.

I tried to have some very basic work done on my cougar, receptionist cut me off mid sentence and said we don't work on boats that have already been worked on". not sure what that means but the owner should at least have a conversation with it's customers before throwing away busiess. Very unfriendly

They don't have qualified staff . They are busy for no apparent reason. They can't find correct part or part no. .... awful service to begin with.

Awful service, do not recommend. Boat came out worse than before it went in for repairs.

We have been using Expert Marine since 2018 for all our service needs (winterization, mechanical repairs, storage, spring commissioning); they have previously cared for our 30’ weekender, and now maintain our pontoon and JetSki. Each experience has been better than the last. If you are looking for. excellent customer service, a courteous and professional team, and quality workmanship, then your search is over!
