Snacking experience at Westdale Coop Preschool.

We feel really lucky to have sent our son to Westdale Coop Preschool. The teachers are warm, kind and patient and I was really impressed with the ever changing programming. I felt my son learned a lot in a safe, supportive environment while also having fun and building social skills.My son can be slow to warm and I felt the teachers were really patient with him and met him where he was. It was a huge comfort to us as parents! Their care for our child helped him grow and open up over the course of the year, helping him prepare for Kindergarten.I would recommend Westdale Coop to anyone looking for a preschool for their child!

Westdale Co-op Preschool is a very special place that exudes warmth and fun. The teachers are incredibly sweet and value observation to best learn about and support the kids. Kids have classroom time and gym time each day so there’s a nice balance.

I am very happy with my experience, and my daughter's, with this preschool. The staff are very friendly and the facilities are good. Exceptional effort is made to create an enriching and rewarding program for the children

Disclaimer: This is based on my observation and experience. Do your own research. My only goal is to help other parent's make an informed decision.First, this isn’t a traditional co-op model - meaning they don’t allow parents to help in the classroom. So if you are looking for that opportunity, this isn’t the place for you.Second, in my opinion, I found the ECEs to be cold and unkind. It was the first week of preschool for my toddler and the first week of me leaving my child alone in a preschool setting, and there was nothing about that first week that left me or my partner feeling comfortable. I personally felt unwelcome and extremely uneasy about the whole experience.Third, I didn’t feel like the ECEs understood child development (what behaviours are developmentally appropriate for 2 year olds). I found this preschool to be very much based in the behaviourist model. At one point an ECE saying “I don’t care about the reasons behind the behaviour.” In my opinion, if you are into respectful/gentle parenting/childcare, then this preschool isn’t for you! I believe children should be treated with respect and adults should be modelling this behaviour and I didn’t feel like this was the case.Ultimately we were able to find another co-op based preschool in the city and it is wonderful - honestly it’s what I assumed of Westdale Co-op Preschool before we started.

Joining Westdale Co-op Preschool has been a wonderful experience. This is our second year at the preschool and my son loves it. He really likes helping to prepare his own snack with his friends and teachers, and he loves gym time every day. The teachers are fantastic. They take the time to connect with the kids and design activities based on the kids' interests. I am really happy with the program at Westdale Co-op Preschool too - they cook, do science experiments, go on visits to local businesses, invite guest speakers and do a monthly trip to the library. I would recommend this preschool to all families looking for a great place to send their children and to make life long friends (for children and parents!).

The facilities are warm and welcoming, with lots of amazing new crafts and activities each week. I highly recommend if you and your child are looking to join a great community of people.
