Hostel Detroit
Stayed here on a Thursday and Friday night in June 2021. Awesome, cozy place a short walk to Michigan Ave restaurants, shops, and bars. Oddly, we did not see any other human beings during our two-night stay. It was a little lonely! My partner emailed them about a lost item and has not heard back. Nice place, but a little strange!

The hostel was perfect for me to visit Detroit while passing through. Plan to make a trip back up there sometime next year and will definitely consider coming back here

I really liked my stay at Hostel Detroit because of the beautiful house and artful interior. Everything was very clean and the staff was super friendly and helpful (at first my door code wouldn't work but the staff got it resolved right away). They were also helpful in recommending stuff to do in Detroit. The only downside for me was, that in the area around the hostel there weren't many people or houses which made it feel a little uncomfortable. However if you cross the highway the area gets a lot better and more vivid.I would definitely go there again and recommend the hostel to anyone looking for a place to stay in Detroit.

I stayed at Hostel Detroit for three nights in October 2021. Any time I texted or emailed with staff it was always a helpful experience and I felt supported with my questions. Being still in coronavirus times, the place was fairly empty so I didn’t see but one other guest while I was there. Someone was playing loud music to make up for the lack of other guests my first night, but I was exhausted and didn’t ask if they’d mind turning it down after quiet hours started. I had rented a private room to have a “home base” for my stuff, which was a good decision regardless, though I ended up not needing it for privacy :-) shoutouts to Stevie the bike, I put it through miles of Detroit roads. I tried eating at several of the places recommended by the hostel and all were great. I love hostels and I loved that HD had private rooms for those of us who want the social aspect without necessarily needing a luggage lock when we leave. I appreciated this strange time for what it was, but look forward to when I can hear people from around the world talking about their lives again.

Solo trip to Detroit for a concert and first time staying in a hostel ever. I was drawn by the great reviews, great price, and great location. The hostel is cute, has a great vibe, and the staff is friendly. The ambassador program (aka tour) was exceptional—definitely one of the highlights of my trip. Kevin was an amazing tour guide. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodated our interests. Made some friends through this tour too. It couldn’t have been a better experience. Perfect place to stay on a budget and/or for a solo trip to Detroit! Would definitely recommend!

Hostel Detroit
Nice place. It's really cheap if you get the dorm style room. The bunk bed rooms are the same cost and quality as a Motel 6 or Days Inn but smaller. Not sure about the single bed rooms. Feels very home-like but also feels like a place for travelers. It's about a half hour walk or 5-7 minute drive to downtown. It was kind of cold last time I went though, I woke up a bit cold and the hot water in the first floor bathroom didn't seem to work right.

First time staying in a hostel, it was very clean, everyone was very friendly. You can borrow locks to keep your belongings safe while you are out exploring. The beds were comfortable, and the communal atmosphere was very welcoming. I would definitely stay again if I return to the area. Walking to downtown is doable, but I wouldn’t recommend it in the later hours of the evening.

Very laid back! Had a great stay and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The pricing is great for the quality of the rooms, I'll most definitely be visiting again. The neighborhood might look a little rough but there were landscaping crews working on it frequently as I traveled about, and to me it seems like a safe area. Don't let the overgrowth deter you, Hostel Detroit is awesome.

I had a wonderful experience at Hostel Detroit. The staff was so warm, friendly, and helpful. I was able to walk to great spots or hop on the bus - or take a short Lyft ride. I would love to come back to Detroit and stay here again!

It's a great hostel! They are very nice!!! Everything clean and organized. It's a little far from the center but I hadn't have problems walking to there, was a 30m walk.
