Avoca Birches Campground

The nicest campground we have ever stayed at period ! Clean facilities, great location between two great restaurants on Cape Breton's North Shore. Quiet in the evenings and the best sunrises at the beach which is a five minute walk from most of the camp sites.It is a bit more expensive than most campgrounds but you definitely get what you pay for in this case. Friendly, helpful owners and perfectly level and very well spaced lots as well.Perfect place to camp for a few days with your trailer, RV or yes even a tent.Can't wait to go back !

We have had the pleasure of staying at Avoca Birches for the past two weekends...and we are already planning our third!If you love camping that brings you into nature, but still gives you convenient amenities, this is the place! The bathrooms and showers are individual pods, so you have privacy while showering or using the restroom. They are also meticulously clean. The owners, Sam and Nancy Grant ensure they are spotless and well cared for.Each site is individual as well. While you know other campers are around you, there are still trees between each lot. The sites themselves are all very large and even, so you can fit anything from a pop up tent for one to a bus size motor home (yes, I've actually seen it and they still had a ton of room).The path to the beach has been smoothed, so within a five minute walk, you could be standing on one of the most beautiful beaches you have ever seen!At night, the stars are incredible and the sound of the owls are the only thing that may wake you up! The firepits are sturdy and well made. The picnic tables are large and also sturdy. If you like, grab your morning coffee and head down to the seating area at the beach, the sunrise is stunning!!Every single aspect of this place has been though out and planned with a pleasurable experience in mind.There are 6 serviced lots with 30amp, water and sewer. The other sites are non serviced, but you can literally live off grid with your trailer and love it here. It is definitely how camping is meant to be done.The owners are Cape Bretoners, they have worked hard thier entire lives and chose to invest back home. To create something that is truly outstanding! The vision and talent it took to create this campground is astounding. You really have to see it to believe it.This place will continue to grow and be busy, so if you want to check it out, booking online is easy and convenient. Save yourself the drive over Smokey and stay at Avoca Birches, you won't be sorry!

Very nice campground. The location is south of the park, and by staying here, I can see that you do not need to go up and down the big mountain toward the park (you'll see). Nicely laid out rv sites that are well separated and level with gravel base. The place is well-maintained. Bathroom facilities are clean and modern. There is an access road down to the water that is worth doing.

While on vacation from Ontario I got the chance to spend some time at Avoca Birches Campgrounds. This place is absolutely beautiful! The walk to the beach is a easy walk on a tree lined pathway, that takes you to beautiful beach. The owner's and staff are there to please. I would definitely recommend Avoca Birches Campgrounds

This was our first time staying at Avoca Birches Campground and it was a lovely experience. Beautifully landscaped with large camping sites and a little trail that leads to a beautiful sandy beach and the owners are great! We have found our getaway spot for an annual Canada Day vacation!

A wonderful new campground located along the Cabot Trail. Large size campsites. Lovely little pond near some of the campsites. Bathrooms and showers are extremely clean. Everything’s very organized. The Ocean has such a stunning view along with a beautiful little brook flowing into the sea.

Great campground! They have a beach at the water with amazing views. If you’re going to hike the Cabot trail this is a must stay location. Shower and bathroom facilities were very clean and the site itself is private and safe. The owners are very friendly and helpful! 10/10 recommend.
