Toyo Sushi Japanese Restaurant
Walked in at 5:30 pm and was greeted promptly. We had chicken karaage, ebi tempura udon, and the omakase nigiri. Everything was delicious. Fish and rice were the right temperature and ratio. Udon had great chew to it. Fried food was crispy and juicy. Service was friendly and attentive. Nothing bad to say.

Had a great dinner at this restaurant last night. Didn’t expect to have such high quality Japanese food in the area. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented. Service was friendly and the price was reasonable, especially for the quality you were getting. The restaurant is small with only a few tables so make sure to make reservations!

Perhaps I have found my new favorite sushi place in burnaby.It’s becoming my habit to go here. Little hard to get the seat here because of limited space. However, they offer a great selection of fresh suhi, nice appetizers and entree to enjoy japanese cuisine.

What a hidden gem. Ai our lovely server was super friendly, professional and efficient. All the items were super fresh.....so many highlights omakase sushi and then the fish bones they deep fry at the end, grilled squid in lemon butter sauce mmmmm, chawanmushi (steam egg custard ) with fresh crab meat (incredible ), tako sunomono I mean seriously even the happy ending of mango ice cream was incredible. Make sure u check out on the whiteboard the fresh menu items. You will arigato me

Everything is fresh. Rice is perfectly cooked for Sushi. Taste is exquisite. Even Green tea they have is very good. I felt like I was home(In Japan)The store is well-cleaned and ppl are nice too. I would love to come back to try some more!! Highly recommend.

My wife and I have been here numerous times already and the food and experience has always been excellent! Beautiful presentation of food and staff has always been attentive and friendly. No matter how busy the restaurant seems to be there is always a sense of calm from the floor staff, to the sushi bar and to kitchen. This is also reflected in the food. The fish is always fresh, and tastes great. I especially enjoy the uni. It's easy for uni to taste off, especially when they are not fresh. It loses that sweet, creamy, briny taste. But I've never had that here. I would highly recommend this place and make sure you make reservations.

Nestled in Burnaby along a fairly nondescript street, Toyo is a hidden gem in the neighbourhood and a delight for the gourmet with a vigilant eye.It is a small Japanese restaurant and parking in the area is limited. You will have to find a side street and take a short walk. The restaurant is able to seat about 6-7 tables but can also accommodate diners at its sushi bar where you will see the chef in action.The food is amazing, both in quality and execution. The black miso cod is a standout and the chirashi dons are not far behind. The only disappointing one was that the unagi don had too many bones, despite the great cook and saucing.The prices are higher than expected but considering the quality, it is worth it. Happy to revisit when I'm in the area again.

Toyo Sushi Japanese Restaurant
This little cozy place is one of the best and authentic Japanese sushi restaurants around town! They’ve always got the freshest fish and have daily specials regularly. If you love delicious raw fish, I highly recommend Toyo. The chef’s here definitely know what they’re doing. They have limited seats as well, so I recommend booking reservations!
