You haven't tried the best butter tarts if you haven't visited this place before. If they told me they are the original creators of the butter tarts I would believe them. They also have all kinds of delicious bake goods that are simply incredible. You can tell the place is good because it seems to be always busy, no matter when. Highly recommended yo anyone visiting Huntsville, or around Muskoka.

I love dropping in for bread, rolls, pastries and of course the sausage rolls. Everything I have had here is amazing quality and needless to say as fresh as can be! Arrive early on weekends for the best selections. The staff is always friendly, and people in the line ups as well! Expect to wait a few minutes at peak times,but enjoy the company!

It's a gem of Huntsville. Delicious baked goods and friendly staffs. My favorite is the sour dough bread so far, will come back and try more.

Tried this place for the first time. Staff was very friendly and their cappuccino was tasty. I ordered a variety of baked goods to try (was especially excited for the donuts since i travel to taste different ones). Unfortunately i was disappointed with the donuts; their “apple fritter” isn’t a fritter, it’s just an apple filled donut. I also got a Boston cream and the fillings in both of the donuts were frozen..as in ice/slush consistency. Typically bakeries are known for being fresh daily but the frozen fillings immediately threw me off. The Boston cream was like eating freezer burnt custard inside, which was a shame because the dough itself was decently soft and the chocolate ganache on top was AMAZING.Their best item was their strawberry/rhubarb danish; so delicious and texture spot on. Their butter tart was mediocre, the filling was more of a silly putty/slime consistency but the taste was okay. I didn’t try anything from their bistro so don’t have an opinion on that portion but their baked bread and sandwiches looked/sounded amazing.

I'm usually nervous about trying coffee that might be sitting in those insulated thermos dispensers for hours but the medium roast coffee was so good I wish I had more. They use Muskoka Roastery beans. Got the crispy chicken wrap, Boston cream donut, and maple tarts. There is always a lunch rush so go there before 11:45 am and there won't be a line. I can't wait to try the cakes and pies.

We arrived around 12:30 PM. The soup and sandwich that we wanted were almost gone. A local told us their bread usually runs out at the end of the day. That's how popular this place is.We ordered tomato soup, chicken pesto sandwich, summer sausage submarine and butter tart. The soup was good but it was not a surprise. The bread of the sandwich and sub were amazing. I made sourdough at home using natural yeast. Needless to say, my homemade bread is good. This bakery's bread was on a different level. The butter tart was not the best that I had but not too bad.The store staff were polite and very accommodating. While it was not a restaurant, their service could deserve my tips.Overall, Windmill Bakery is a place that is worth visiting.

Went to get a couple of buns for supper. Have never been before.My husband and I decided to grab a couple of sandwiches. Omg best sandwich we have ever had. We travel a lot. This place should be advertising these sandwiches. No, I don't remember the name.Just go and check them out yourself. You will be surprised.
