Jimi's Music Store

I like these guys. They carry a good selection of new guitars (mostly Fender) and small to mid sized amps. Not much choice for used, but the quality is always good. Decent selection of strings. Qualified and reasonably priced service counter. The staff are patient with folks that are there in purchase mode - impatient with tire kickers as some reviews have noted.

Grumpy and unfriendly. Great example why customers are buying online….Update: Clerk just yelled at a 6 year old kid for smudging their glass display. I can really feel the customer care every time I visit.

I am so happy that guitar shops like Jimi's are around. I went in with my son's guitar and the owner was great in explaining what had to be done and the associated cost. Very straight up and very frank in their dealings. They fixed up the guitar and did exactly what they promised to do and now it sounds great. They also did the job in just a few days. I couldn't be happier.

Just FYI for anyone looking for bongos: google says they sell them here, but they don't. The man was real nice when I came in and asked about them though! :)

I came here to buy a soft guitar case for my volunteer's electric guitar. Nice case, reasonably priced, good service. It fit his electric guitar perfectly. It turns out he had a similar one which he purchased over 10 years ago at Jimi's also. He transports his guitar often so after a dozen years, it was time for a new one.

Thanks for setting up my Epiphone ES175. You fixed the problems with intonation and fret buzz. It's all perfect now-- easy to tune and a pleasure to play. I very much appreciate your competent and professional service. It is always a pleasure to visit your store.

Had to rush two acoustic guitars with new strings...Eric just opened the store. I desperately asked if he could help me get this done ASAP while I was at the store... after thinking about it, as he was actually backed-up, he came back and said yes!!!! I will do it for you but just new strings nothing else... well, I tell you he is such a pro that even though he said that, he still went and made a bunch of adjustments on both guitars as he is (and always will be) such a pro... and within less than an hour, both guitars were restrung, realigned, and a slew of other things - perfection!I wish to thank Eric for his excellent philosophy and action of putting the customer first and as always, creating amazing customer satisfaction that you just want to hug the guy... and by the way, he made the process look so crazy simple, but wow... and he is also a wicked guitar player...kudos Eirc, you made my day and weekend!

My wife and I first visited Jimi’s Music store approximately 2 years ago, to purchase my very first acoustic guitar, which my wife was kindly gifting me with for our 36th anniversary. Thankfully, ours was a GREAT first time guitar purchase experience. Upon entering the store, we immediately felt enchanted by the coziness of the place and all of the instruments hanging overhead, there was a magical feeling. We were greeted by a welcoming and highly knowledgeable staff member, who treated us respectfully and with genuine interest to help, knowing this was my first guitar purchase. We felt no pressure to buy, nor any upsell. Instead, the person behind the counter listened carefully to my specific music interests and desire to learn the basics of folk guitar. He then provided us with lots of helpful info, then made several recommendations in relation to our budget, interests and needs. We left the store with a great feeling and a new guitar (and soft case), as well as with newfound knowledge about how to start practicing and learn the basics, while maintaining the enthusiasm needed to work past the initial set of finger-calleuses.During the next six months I succeeded to learn the basic chords by following the Fender online course that the staff person at Jimi’s recommended. After playing and enjoying the guitar basics on and off over these past two years, the online courses with Justin Guitar and Marty Schwartz have recently reignited my flame to play and progress further. Tonight, during my practice session, my first string broke (the e string). I look forward to returning to Jimi’s very soon for a friendly and encouraging experience and a repair. :)

Terrible customer service. Walked in as the only person in the middle of a week day (Thursday), asked for strings and to show how put them on (American Telecaster with strange peg set up I was unfamiliar with). The guy (younger) told me he would set them up by himself or to get out and do it myself at home (word for word). In a world with Long and McQuade and a zillion other guitar stores, try being helpful to those that want it with guitars. This place is a BIG NO, if your like me and new to Montreal avoid it like the plague. Would give it a -1/5 if that was an option.
