Current owner provides terrible service. I miss the old man who used to own this store. I never visits this store any more.

I came to Music of May for repair for a erhu (Chinese violin) that needed some serious love. The strings and bridge had to be changed, and it no longer had a qianjin (nut). The case I had was also in bad shape, with the zipper unable to close anymore. May Mei took care of all the repairs in little time. She provided me with advice, and was very kind and professional. I wasn't charged for her labour, only for the parts which were very affordable (a few dollars for the strings and qianjin!).I would highly recommend this place. Toronto is lucky to have a shop like this, one of the few in Canada, and basically the only one in what could be considered Eastern Canada!Re: getting lost/directions. The shop is in a complex with different buildings. Don't trust GoogleMaps! It is actually the one closer to Mainland Avenue, parallel to another building with the ScotiaBank. Look at the letters on the side of the buildings (A-B-C-D), the shop is in D3. See my pictures for a map with the location.

Music of May is a music store with a great variety of high-quality instruments under different price ranges. It also provides music lessons of multiple Chinese and Western instruments. The music teachers are professionally skilled, and the cost of instrumental lessons is fitting and proper. The overall service is fast and sufficient with nice stuffs. The owner of the Music or May is also patient and knowledgeable, who answers the customers’ question in the clearest way possible. In conclusion, the Music of May is an amazing choice for purchasing instruments and finding music teachers!

After searching at so many places, I bought my erhu here. The owner is knowledgeable and very patient with all my questions. The shipping was super fast and the package was very secure. Erhu is excellent quality from a big Chinese brand. I'd definitely recommend buying Chinese music instrument here.

One of the rare finds for Chinese music instruments. I actually wanted to buy a piano which they no longer carry, but the owner May, with her extensive musical knowledge (she graduated from the prestigious Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing China) explained what I should look for when purchasing a piano, gave me recommendations, and helped me negotiate a good price from the seller. She plays many instruments herself and been in this industry for years - I trust her that for any musical instrument they carry, I can get qualify and service if I need to.

My purchasing experience at Music of May was very enjoyable. I was looking to buy a cello and searched around my area and found this shop. It sells all sorts of instrument including Chinese instrument. But it definitely has I was looking for. I told the sales that I wanted to get a cello for practice, and she let me tried three of those. They are all pretty good- nice tone, and the price is decent. Regarding the tonal quality, this is all about personal preference, so that's why I prefer to try it out and do comparison. The sales was helpful in providing suggestions and was very patient as I was trying each one. I think they have a online shop as well. But for me visiting the store is good. Glad I got what I want finally. Great experience.

Love this place! They have so many Chinese instruments and it’s the best place to go if you’d like to learn more about traditional Chinese instruments and music. They also offer music classes for a variety of instruments so that’s wonderful as well.

I was going to buy an Erhu and was provided with professional service. Staff is warm and caring. I strongly recommend this Store for your music instruments (especially Chinese instrument) great sources.
