Westport Telephone Company Limited

I have been a customer of Westport Telephone for 46 years. I purchased a property across the road from our cottage about 10 years ago. The property had a telephone pole on it. The deed I received had no phone right of way on it. Two years ago a tree limb broke and pulled over the pole. When Westport Phone company came to repair the pole they talked to the person whose tree limb pulled down the pole. Apparently he said they could repair the pole. “Note not his property”. I heard the repair work going on and went to see what was happening. I was informed by the repair crew they were given authority to repair the pole by the neighbour. I informed them that I was the property owner. They already had placed a guy wire on the pole drilled into the rock. They were in the process of putting a steel cable around a tree. I informed them that I did not want a cable around the tree because it would eventually kill the tree plus it was taking up a lot of ground . I was told that they would put in a steel anchor point in the rock where the guy wire was placed. Two summer seasons have passed and many phone calls to the service department to remove the cable from around my tree. The service department ignores my concerns. I would really like to know where these people get off telling me what they are going to do with my property. I understand there was a pole on the property I purchased. I don’t understand where where WTC thinks they can run cables across my property without my consent.I have now cancelled my WTC service.Dave Murray
