I have a 360 degree fireplace that sits in the middle of my living room. I needed to have it temporarily removed to complete some renovations. I sleuthed a few days for a company that offered this service and thankfully I called 2nd Gen. They were prompt and added me to their schedule for the following week. The removal was quick and the installers were very professional.

Our chimney was leaking water down onto our gas insert. They team came out quickly (the office personnel were able to get us in quickly due to a cancellation). A custom cover was ordered and installed sooner than projected. The process from start to finish was easy and the company was a joy to work with! A regular cleaning and inspection showed clear structural issues of our chimney (I watched the camera footage live) that made our fireplace unsafe to use, so we opted to have 2nd Generation install a new chimney liner and replace the brickwork on the outside since that was in bad shape as well. They switched their schedule around for us to get the liner installed before fireplace season started, and the outer brickwork was rebuilt later in Spring. Any questions or concerns I had were answered with detailed information and taken care of with professionalism and patience. I feel like they pride themselves on good work and taking care of you, so I trusted them with another project that they also handled beautifully. Yes, this kind of work is pricy, but I'd rather invest a bit more in a company that I feel I can trust. The result speaks for itself - that chimney has never looked so solid. I believe the work they did will last a lot longer than that of so many other contractors who have worked on our house over the years. I'm very happy with what they do all around, and I'll continue to use and recommend their services. They are also very responsive to questions (including via email) and will make sure to notify you ahead of time of scheduled work or possible changes.

2nd Gen inspected and replaced our original flue. The quality of the work in install, tuck-pointing and capping is second to none. I have them out annually to clean and inspect and for owning a house 125 years old, the peace of mind their work affords us is invaluable.
