The landlord didnt lrovide evidence on time but it was used. On more than 5 times I PROVED he was lying but they still sided with the landlord. They are totally bias against tenants. Even after I submitted evidence proving that i was right they didnt even look at it. It was a total waste of time trying to prove my point.

This place is a joke. As a landlord i filed a counter action against my tenants who did damages exceeding $2,000.00 along with invoices, letters from contractors pictures etc. And they don't take that into consideration. Now I have to go through Kings Bench to b file an appeal. When are they going to actually look at the evidence presented.

Sorry but when a societies law providers are heartless and compassionaless enough to where they are kicking out families in the middle of a rain storm after it hails is not any society or 1605 type political views I am for! I don't care if all you people want is money like hello freedom maybe money making to all of you 'snobs' okay my apologies but others who have been out in the REAL WORLD and are your modern day SOLDIERs of Canada all of us underdogs are! Would give 0 stars if I could. Do not rent from this company if you value your rights and a healthy home. They promote rental properties as freshly renovated when there’s multiple issues with the property still. The way they talk to tenants comes with no respect or compassion. They refuse to fix problems with the property. I have a roof that’s been needing repairs since I moved in and it’s been 4 months and still nothing. We have a weird smell coming in from the roof now from this issue. Small issues like clogged sink pipes have been fixed due to the handyman who also confirmed how unprofessional Durston Properties is when it comes to handling their properties and tenants. When it comes to partial payments on late rent due to seasonal work/late ei payments, they refuse and won’t even accept it let alone acknowledge the effort and will give an evictions notice even though the effort is clearly there and being made. Got told I should find a place I can afford when I’ve never had any issues up until work got super slow for me when really they should be more professional and respectful to afford a higher rating as a business.

This process relies completely on the subjective opinion of whatever hearing officer is assigned. Their bias and personality sways decisions towards either the landlord or tenant, and it is basically a popularity contest. Landlords typically know the right way to 'work the system' and tenants are at the mercy of whatever courts orders are made by the Hearing Officer. It is expensive and complicated to do any kind of appeal, and this process makes it too easy for the little-guy to be taken advantage of.

Have a lawyer help you and represent you at these precedings if you can afford one because RTDRS likes to blatantly break the law to side with the landlords when they know perfectly well know that the landlords are in the wrong when the tenants present the evidence that the landlords are in the wrong. Also, the RTDRS likes to say one thing and then blatantly admit that they don't know about the subject that they are talking about along with giving verbally giving the wrong information.

If you have a choice, living in Edmonton - DO NOT USE RTDRS. Especially if you get Lamont" because she is known to side with the Landlord. If you have a choice Go straight to court. RTDRS by law can go on 'Hearsay' by the landlord (which happened in my case)

Negative stars. Not a great platform. They are straight biased people. SHAME !

If you're investigating if you should use rdtrs, don't, unless it is painfully clear-cut. The adjudicator in my case did not, and admitted so, review evidence despite me citing it repeatedly. Looking at other reviews, this is a consistent problem. My respondent lied through their teeth despite enormous amounts of evidence that disproved their testimony and it was completely ignored. What's worse is the only recourse is a lengthy and expensive appeal process. Absolutely ridiculous. Especially because there is no accountability from the adjudicator.

Over all my experience using RTDRS in Edmonton and the Calgary office whether calling asking for advice or actually attending a hearing there back in 2019 a hearing I won after my landlord refused to give me my damage deposit back and it was proven the landlord illegally entered the property many times causing arguments and undo stress and upset and being awarded a small abatement of rent back times 14 months. I was impressed with the judicator and all the help & support I got in filling out documents and submitting I’m impressed with the process from start to finish. Thank you RTDRS Edmonton!
