Best Western Plus Suites Downtown

wow! What a wonderful hotel, I was very happy with my stay. The beds were awesome! The view was exceptional! The kitchenette, though we didn’t use, was awesome! this is a wonderful area if you’re coming to Calgary or having a staycation like me.

The hotel’s old and the room was big with all basic amnesties but the beds had issues with spring and were loud enough to wake you up when you’re just turning in your sleep. The place had a decent view and the location of the hotel is extremely convenient.

Great location. The building is a bit old, but everything is perfectly clean. The beds are very comfy, the service is fantastic, and the breakfast is far better than anticipated. I highly recommend this hotel, great value for money. I will definitely stay here again.

My recent stay at the Best Western Plus Suites Downtown Calgary left much to be desired. While there were some positive aspects of the hotel, I cannot overlook the significant issues I encountered during my stay.One of the most concerning problems was the poor housekeeping in the room. Upon checking in, I immediately noticed stains of urine in the urinal. It was quite off-putting and made me question the cleanliness standards of the hotel. Furthermore, upon inspecting the toilet, I found numerous urine stains underneath the seat. I promptly reported these issues to the front desk and requested a thorough cleaning. However, when the housekeeping staff attended to the matter, it seemed that they only wiped the surfaces quickly without properly sanitizing the seat (top and bottom). This lack of attention to detail and cleanliness was disappointing and did not meet my expectations.Additionally, I found the staff at the front desk to be disinterested in providing quality service. Their lack of enthusiasm and attentiveness made me feel unwelcome and unimportant as a guest. (This is a staff I interacted with after we checked and not the person that checked us in - Avinash or Abhinav Sharma- not sure I got his name correct)Considering these issues, I cannot recommend the Best Western Plus Suites Downtown Calgary as a great place to stay.While it is possible that my experience was an isolated incident, it is important for hotels to consistently maintain high standards to ensure a positive and enjoyable stay for all guests. I hope that the management of Best Western Plus Suites Downtown Calgary takes this feedback constructively and makes the necessary improvements to enhance the quality of their services.

Staff was nice and attentive. Pictures they have are only of renovated rooms which apparently most are not. The hotel is in the process of renovating but should have been done 10 years ago. Elevators super small and slow, rooms are old with things fall apart. Bathroom fan didn’t work in our room, and bathroom door didn’t latch. Stained curtains, just very old and rundown looking. I love best westerns usually but this one was a disappointment.

We had a last min cancellation due to an unforeseen circumstance. Although we are diamond members, it was too late to cancel but given our situation, Anam was very understanding and handled the situation very well. She cancelled the room at no charge. Excellent customer service - she deserves a raise!

The rooms were okay and clean. I stayed in a one bedroom suit. Unfortunately the front desk staff were clueless as we were a group of 10 ladies. The staff seemed confused a number of times and sadly a cleaner walked into my room while I was stack naked. She was female (thankfully). I might still stay there but not as a group.

An older property at a convenient location. Staff was superlative. Being part of Best Western Rewards, they were very generous in letting us check in early. We got the family suite, which was very big with a full kitchen.

Rooms could use some updating and more clean bedding without stains and towels without hair in it would be nice. I even open up the curtains when we leave each day so the housekeeping could see the layer of dust on the tv dresser but it wasn't cleaned. Tv channel selection very basic. Could use more than a set of toiletries too when it's more than a person staying, they are tiny amount. Not a big deal since you can ask for more at the front desk but a hassle if you stayed on the 14th floor. The free breakfast daily was pretty much the highlight of our stay though it could be less crowded and open longer or more seating area. Food was served fresh and replenished quickly. A good variety of choices for everyone. Wish there was a cold water fountain for filling water bottles. There's no teas either in rooms. Indoor slippers would be a nice touch too in case the floors weren't clean and you need to go out to the hall to get ice and not have to wear your shoes. It was a bit of a walk to the stampede park which was where our expo convention was held, 30 minutes give or take. They have rental scooters everywhere which is cool. Weather was lovely and friendly people overall.

The staff at the front desk are always very friendly, rooms are clean. The location is great so many great restaurants to walk to. Also close to grocery stores which is nice for snacks. We love staying here.
