I had to visit Misericordia yesterday due to pain and was feeling pressure in my eyes and had redness in eyes. I took day off from work as I feeling was so uncomfortable. I did have vision exam 2 months back which was all good. Experience was great with reception, wait times and nurse triage person. But Doctor kept advising this place doesn't replace eye exam and I should visit Optometrist rather going Misericordia. She said this in 3 times less then 5 minutes. I asked for advise if I should even use some eye drops as I was having lot of pain and discomfort. I was advised to visit Optometrist and ask for reading glasses. I ended up going to walk in clinic and got eye drop prescription and feeling much better this morning. I can't remember Doctor's name. She made me feel like I was wasting her time. It was one of elderly doctor on second floor. I hope she wouldn't do this to more people in need of urgent care..

Shout out to the diagnostic imaging team and the kind staff members at the entrance of the hospital. I was initially dreading going to a hospital for a scan, but the staff members made a world of a difference. Everything was very easy to navigate, everyone was nice and helpful - keep up the good work!

Reported to patient registration and was immediately taken to the imaging department. I was early for my appointment and only waited about 2 minutes and was in the ultrasound room. Procedure done in 10 minutes. Very nice people are working in this facility.

I come to the Misericordia Himospital once a month to see my foot specialist. I come an hour early to enjoy a coffee and a good breakfast of eggs, bacon, rye toast. The cook is friendly, he will help individuals operate the touch screen POS system. Payment is debit or credit only. The grill is open from 7am to 1pm. If you are here at the hospital please check the small cafeteria out during these times. If the grill is closes there are vending machines to get snacks and drinks.

I am grateful for the 24 hr eye care. Not sure how this is going to pan out right now as my brother is still inside. I parked my vehicle and went in only to be shown the waiting room while my brother is alone. I think one immediate family member should be able to accompany a patient that is facing possible blindness...or more of an explanation and reason why not.The health care facilities virtually across this country are sorely lacking in staff and service. It appears their incredible fear of people actually showing up at their doors is the only thing they have an abundance of.

It is past 4 years to the day the cornea in my wife’s left eye was severely injured from cataract surgery at Misericordia Eye Care Centre.Somehow, the phacoemulsification probe the doctor (from the GEM Clinic) was operating to remove the cataract became too hot creating a devastating thermal burn injury to her eye. She is still recovering from the injury to this day. The doctor who performed the original cataract surgery did several post-operative procedures, which eventually over the course of a year healed into a cornea that was stable. The cornea was stable but distorted with a tremendous amount of astigmatism. The vision was a mess and not correctable by any means and essentially she was blind in that eye. In this condition, her original doctor could help her no further correcting the astigmatism. She had to find another doctor on her own willing to take on the “challenging case”.During the past 4 years, several other procedures were necessary and a lot of time spent between them healing the eye, and of course waiting for the Pandemic to cool down. One more procedure is due in May 2022. No, make that May 2023, we had to wait another year before the last procedure, and this procedure may restore vision in the injured eye, we hope. We hope the surgery is not canceled at the last minute.Rating score 1/5: 4 dings off five possible points for the clinic proper and MB health policy dealing with people injured from medical procedures, which are not “normal complications”. Given the legal resources of the Canadian Medical Protective Association which protects doctors only, it is almost impossible for injured patients to initiate and financially survive a legal action. There should be a no fault fund set up for injured patients to cover some expense encountered to recovery. We have spent well over a thousand dollars out of pocket for various medical expenses necessary but not paid by health Manitoba.Update April 2023. Surgery for a lens implant went very well. Many thanks to Dr. Wiens and the team that day 5/5.

My MD scheduled for me a CT Scan on the morning of Thursday, August 18th, 2022. From the moment I arrived to check in at the front desk, I was greeted with professionalism, respect, and courtesy. From that moment on, the treatment at each and every station was exactly the same...a 'top-shelf' standard. I have been having various scans performed there practically yearly. And each time I travel to the Misericordia for an appointment, I have experienced exactly the same incredible levels of service...accompanied by very, very high standards of professionalism and decency. Thank you to the staff involved for making these appointments and procedures streamlined, efficient...and friendly.

I was having worrisome vitreous detachment symptoms. The optometrist office told me to go to Misericordia Eye Clinic asap in case there's issues pulling on the retina etc. I waited 3 hours and the doctor takes a quick look in one eye and says I can't see the retina because we don't dilate eyes here??? and refers me back to an optometrist. I asked if she would look into my other eye as this is where my blurred vision was and she says no need?? What's the point of this state of the art eye clinic if they can't even see in the eye?? Wish I could give it 0 stars.

Went to get an eye problem looked at. Everyone was very nice and the treatment was amazing. The only reason that this is 4 star is because it took me 20 min to park as they don't have a parking lot

Update: was contacted at 11 am for an appointment at 8:30 today. It was a really long day of tests with an appointment for a follow up in two weeks. Although still not too sure what's causing my issue, everyone that dealt with me today was understanding, friendly and compassionate. And very much made up for my experience on Tuesday.Left feeling very defeated. Having vision problems since Saturday, went in Tuesday. I felt the nurse and family doctor were annoyed I went there , rude and sighing. They kept asking if I have had vision problems before, if I wear glasses or contacts like they didn't believe I suddenly had bad vision. I had to explain it was sudden. Was told I should have went to an eye doctor and I told them my family doctor and eye doctor advised I go there. I waited 4 and half hours to be told the actual specialist would not see me and someone would call me today at 8-8:30 to make an appointment. No one has called. I'm not sure why they think I was lying about not having previous vision problems , they didn't try to hide their disbelief. And also said people come here expecting us to fix their long term vision problems " ?? I have had perfect vision so this was confusing. Do better please."
