Superior Flooring

I recently purchased Superior’s Engineered Enhanced Yukon White hardwood and have very mixed feelings about it.First off, the good: the quality of this hardwood is excellent and the installation was a breeze. The “nice” pieces of this hardwood are very nice.That brings me to the bad: there is way too much variation in colour and pattern and this was not made clear to me before purchasing. While the Heritage Collection is supposed to have different boards, I could never have imagined how dissimilar each board would be. There are numerous colour tones and patterns: yellow, orange-ish, red, blue-ish, as well as knots, swirls and stripes. It was extremely hard to put together a layout that looked nice and cohesive. I would estimate that about 30% of the hardwood was put into the junk pile. In fact, so much has gone into the junk pile that there isn’t enough left to finish the project. I will either have to purchase more or use a lot of the junk pieces in the bedrooms. There are only 2 retailers of Superior in my city so I was only able to look at 2 sample boards for this particular hardwood: neither illustrated the variance that I ultimately got. Both sample boards showed knots but little other variation. I realize that it’s hard to incorporate everything on a small sample board and that dye lots change, but these sample boards are nowhere close to depicting what the flooring actually looks like. Everyone has different tastes and while I’m sure some people would love this flooring, I would not have purchased this had I known what it would look like.And now, the ugly: while the lighting in the photos isn’t great, here are a couple of photos of some of the “bad” pieces.

I got 4 3/4 inch w red oak premier wire brushed timberwolf superior hardwood flooring from your dealer. But i can not find any information about 4 3/4size soild wood produce from your webside. . Could you help me to know if you sold 4 3/4 w red oak premier wire brushed timberwolf soild flooring before? Will be Very Thankful.

Just Installed our whole upper floor with Superior Hickory Premier Grade Hickory Boardwalk - Fits great, looks Great, very nice shade of warm Greys and Browns as well . We just love it ! thank you Superior Hardwood !

I am very happy with the quality and overall look of my hardwood. We chose the Hickory Rainforest 6 wire brush finish. Having a Canadian product from a local company was important to me and I couldn't be more pleased with the finished product."

I originally chose the Legend series white oak Yukon white low sheen only to find that it was no longer made and the only floor in that same color and style was the heritage line handscraped finish. The sample still looked nice, so we went with that for the same price somehow. Well the color and the finished product looks beautiful, however this floor scratches and dents so easy it doesn’t seem like it’s oak. I have an oak table made by the Amish that has taken a beating and still looks beautiful. I am so utterly disappointed for the $17,000 we paid. Our old red oak floor never dented like this and it made it through 3 toddlers. White Oak is supposed to be harder than red oak. I almost want to finish redoing our house and move at this point.

We have had hour Superior walnut floors for three years; when we were looking into this option, we had a hard time finding reviews about the walnut and I can say they are beautiful three years later despite having two young boys and a busy house. An excellent product.

We purchased and installed 7 Enhanced Maple Heritage in Backroads stain with matching vents and love how it turned out. The hand scraped texture looks great and we love how our floor turned out."

I spent a lot of time looking at hardwood flooring. The choices of flooring being engineered, solid or laminate made deciding more difficult. I was convinced that solid was the way to go, After visiting several flooring shops and countless hours on the internet I thought I decided for a solid hardwood product that was not Superior Flooring. I visited the store to purchase the solid flooring when I saw the Superior product and the thickness of the wear layer. At 5/32” thick, Superior had the thickest wear layer of the other engineered products I had looked at. The plywood layers were solid core hardwood that even my Installer noted, “made nailing (stapling) a breeze, and was very high quality.” The engineered product allowed me to use wider planks and the colour I wanted. The engineered product is far more stable than solid. I opted to purchase the Superior engineered product. Zero wastes!Three dogs and zero scratches on the wire brushed product (not that I would care about some scratches, it’s hardwood, it’s supposed to have character!).
