Northumberland Gymnastics Centre

I have brought my siblings to this gym and have been impressed with the coaches. They take extra time and make sure everyone is having a great time. I cant wait for them to go to summer camp at NGC they will have lots of fun! My siblings are extra excited about the field trips and movie days. My one sibling had a birthday party there about a month ago and all the guests had an excellent time.Thanks Northumberland Gymnastics for everything!

This gym is going downhill fast. My daughter was on their competitive team for just over a year. The owner is too busy with her phone to pay any attention to the kids she is supposed to be coaching. When she does pay attention to them, she is short and rude to them. She will send your kids to competitions without preparing them or giving the parents adequate information or communication. Don't expect her to answer the phone or respond to emails. She couldn't be bothered.This gym is a hot mess and it's only going to get worse as she is in the process of opening up a second location. I would avoid at all costs.

I honestly would rate this a zero if I could.. I have never been so disgusted and put off by a business until now. Not only is the gym outdated, with no sight in mind of revamping it, but the owner has no business ethics!Myself and my daughter have been attending this gym for just shy of 2 years, and I have not personally been introduced to the owner of the gym.. she has not come around to introduce herself or be engaged with the girls or boys in the gym. She is constantly on her phone or her laptop, not watching what actually occurs in the gym. We recently requested a refund for a class session and a cancelled class we never got due to weather....as we no longer will be attending, and requested confirmation of the details via email. I simply received an e transfer for the session only, not the individual classes owed and no email response, no wishing us well and no comment at all.As an owner of the gym she is constantly talking down to the staff, and belittling them. She has been witnessed multiple times, being rude and degrading to the office manager and one of her best coaches infront of any and all who are around.. there is no sense of privacy or professionalism from her. I would not reccomend bringing your children to this gym as things have become very wrong and degrading, I will be driving an additional 15 mins further from my home to avoid going to this location.

My two girls have been in the competitive program here for the past year. My girls both love it and can’t wait to go to their classes. My past experience in a competitive program was very rigid and hard to maintain. Erika has been so great at accommodating the hectic life of kids and competitive gymnastics! The gym is clean and doesn’t smell like dirty socks like other gyms I have been too!!

We first started at the gym in January 2022 as our toddler’s first ever activity and one class quickly turned into going 3 times a week! This club is easily his favourite place and it’s hard to imagine going anywhere else.We have always found the space well taken care of and extremely clean (which brought a peace of mind during the pandemic without a doubt).The staff themselves are friendly and patient, with the owner Erika having a clear passion for the sport, and people in her care. My son speaks of her constantly and she’s the first person he needs to see when we get there.Can’t recommend this place enough. Thanks for all you do!

My son started when he was 3 years old in the unparented class and has now graduated into the 4 year old intermediate level. My son loves his coaches and has learned many new skills. Prior to enrolment, he was trying to do stunts and since being in gymnastics knows now how to properly do a summersault without breaking his neck.The gym is clean, well maintained and the coaches are very approachable. They have great boundaries and protocols for every person to remain safe and respectful.It’s a great place to take your child to for recreation, for a camp or birthday party. I’m so happy to have a gymnastics program in our community. The owner, Gillian, really goes the extra step to make sure everyone feels welcome.

I am really surprised to see negative reviews for this gym. I started taking my daughter, who is just over 2 years old now, back in February of this year because this is one of the only places that offered programs for kids under 2. We had such a great experience that I signed my son, who is 3 1/2, up as well. They had great covid protocols in place, and the gym is always clean when I'm there. My kids are able to be in the same preschool class this summer, and we've been having so much fun. The coaches are always friendly and very patient. I look forward to going here for a long time.

We are so pleased with the changes we have seen in the Northumberland Gymnastics Centre! After having not great experiences there many years ago when our daughter was very young, we decided to give them another try with our 12 year old son. Erika has been amazing with encouraging his natural talent and guiding us to find the best program for him. Whenever we have questions about schedules, costs, or anything at all, our messages are answered quickly and clearly. Gillian & Erika are helpful and responsive. Our son loves what he has been learning and his skills have improved more than we could have imagined. With their focus on improving staff attitude and general cleanliness of the building, I would not hesitate to recommend NGC to anyone.

It was really disappointing to call and ensure the classes were running despite the weather. Was told yes everything was running, made the 40min drive and upon arrival doors were getting locked due to poor weather. Despite being told we would receive a refund for that evening (by the working staff), the following week when asked the staff knew nothing of it, same with the following week. The owner was contacted and was very rude, said she was unaware this was said to us and would look into it. 3 weeks later and she never contacted us. It was the second cancelation we had after making the trip there despite being told something else.

Something needs to be said about this gym. I don’t like putting local businesses down or any business for that matter, but this gym is the absolute worst gym. I say this mainly because of the owner of the gym and how she “runs” her business. If you want someone who is great at responding to your emails, this isn’t the gym. She actually never responds unless it’s to speak poorly of a coach. Erika walks around with a constant scowl on her face. Speaks poorly toward her staff, most of them being teenagers. She’s always on her phone or laptop when she’s supposed to be “training” her competitive team. Enough about Erika, now on to the state of the gym itself. The equipment is all outdated, there’s actually a piece of equipment that has the date of 1993 on it. There was a hole in the roof with water leaking out of it and a kiddie swimming pool underneath catching the water, which was coming out yellow/black. I’ve been going there for 6 years and not one new piece of equipment has come into that gym. The bathrooms constantly smell, I could go on but I’m sure you get the picture. Now on to birthday parties! I had my 4 year olds party there and it was a great time, minus the fact the staff turned out all the lights in the gym making it pitch black with only the lights on in the room we were using. Talk about a safety liability.Of course everyone has a different opinion about this place but please be warned before signing your child up at this location, especially in the competitive program. I would never want my child to be treated the way Erika treats others. Period. I 100% regret spending so much money at that place!
