We had a great experience with Justin and Backyard Retreats! Our job was a full front and back yard sodding and edging project including a new planter. Everything started and finished on time and on budget, and the communication and follow-up with with Justin before, during and after the job was great. Justin is a true professional! We ordered for our fence to be closed off around our newly built two-car garage. Justin managed to built a side door for us after closing off the fence constructing a neat path leading up to the side door. We had the additional request to have handrails built for our patio stairs as well. This was no problem and as promised Justin built the entire deliverable in the agreed time of only three days! He is a professional- neat, respectful and a punctual craftsman. We are overall very pleased with his service. The price was the cherry on top and very reasonable for such fast and great delivery! He was very fast in finalizing the invoice and always keeping up-to-date to the agreed service. Thank you Justin! We are very happy!

We were blown away by the work that Justin and his crew completed. He is an excellent communicator and was flexible to our needs, including adapting to last minute changes. His quotes and invoices were always detailed so that we knew the specific costs of each element. Justin's work is meticulous and detail-oriented. They went above and beyond in their completion of our patio and deck, which included:- completely digging up and replacing all of our pre-existing patio stones and the dirt/sand beneath them to ensure there were no surprises underneath that would ruin the integrity later on- demolition of our rotten deck and attached planters, including multiple tree roots and old electrical parts- construction of a new deck with composite wood, including his own unique design that had a different coloured border and a hideaway gate on the side for extra storage underneath- adding in a draining solution to support slope issues in our yard- professional use and care of their materials, which included safely storing and cleaning all materials at the end of the day before leavingWe cannot recommend Backyard Retreats enough and will definitely use them again for future projects.- Bill and Lindsay

Justin took on a pretty large renovation of the back yard patio in 2021. The original set up was a poured cement slab with cinderblock retaining wall. The steps up to ground level and sidewalk were poured cement. Everything had sunk about five inches over time. As you can see in the pictures of the finished job he had to demolish the original patio and steps etc. and then created a really nice space over 3X the size of the original patio. He installed new stairs and sidewalks as well as a chain link fence to close in the RV space which he also modified. Justin was a pleasure to work with right from the beginning in that he provided some great ideas on the design which I could see the final result of with the software program he uses...that was really helpful. The timeline and cost estimate to completion was presented in detail and the work was done in accordance with the schedule and budget...no cost overruns...that was nice. Justin and his staff are very professional and they ensured that every detail of the work was to my satisfaction and all at a fair price.
