I usually never review anything but I’ve been throwing up for 6 days (my doctor and 811 told me to go to the er) I don’t know what’s wrong with me I can’t eat food nor drink water or any kind of fluids I throw it up my throat feels tight I’m having shortness of breath, anxiety, my head hurts so badly even Tylenol doesn’t help, and the triage people are so unprofessional and so unkind I waited there for 7 hours for two days and nobody did anything. I asked for a vomit bag the guy was so rude about it just because my voice is smaller than others and I couldn’t say it loudly, I’ve only had 1 good experience here and it was a year ago when my blood count was low. Not to mention how they are so racist towards bipoc making fun of our names because it’s not their standard laughing at us, or literally just laughing at patients. Learn how to be respectful and kind, you are not doctors, doctors don’t even speak that way.

Last month I went through the most terrifying situation of my life, and the UAH ER team were so incredibly supportive that it made the best of my bad situation.Wait times are long, but this has nothing to do with the staff working there… it is about triage and resources! From my point of entry to leaving was about 10h, BUT in that time I had several assessments, bloodwork done, and had extremely empathetic experts take the time to explain to me what was going on and a solid plan going forward; how anyone could expect this done any faster is beyond me. I felt respected, listened to, and treated like an human being - this should be how every encounter in healthcare is. Upon my departure, I was linked up with a clinic specific to my illness which I have been able to access to begin my recovery.I can’t emphasize enough how thankful I am that the ER team was so amazing. For privacy reasons I won’t do any specific shout-outs, but I really hope that the team working the weekend of April 1st know how wonderful they are!!!

The worse staff at the receiption, they treat people like sheep and not human, I went there with very bad chest pain, swollen arm, pain killing me in my chest they let me wait for 5 hours and never admit me to be seen by a dr. What kind of emergency is this, next rime I should call an ambilance and they will let me in in 1 mnt. Lesson learned.

I recently had an unfortunate experience at the University of Alberta Hospital Emergency Room that left me extremely dissatisfied. One of the main issues was the unbearably long waiting time, which was absolutely unacceptable.Upon arriving at the emergency room, I was greeted with a packed waiting area and hardly any seating available. The seating areas were uncomfortable and crowded, making it incredibly difficult to wait for hours on end. The lack of proper seating added unnecessary discomfort to an already stressful situation.Furthermore, the waiting time was excessively long. Despite my urgent medical condition, I had to wait for hours before receiving any attention from the medical staff. The lack of communication and updates on the status of my case only added to the frustration and anxiety I was experiencing. As a patient seeking urgent medical care, I expected a more efficient and compassionate service from a renowned hospital like the University of Alberta Hospital. However, the overall experience was disappointing and left me feeling neglected and overlooked.I understand that emergency rooms can get busy, but the prolonged waiting time and uncomfortable seating areas at the University of Alberta Hospital Emergency Room were beyond acceptable standards. I strongly urge the hospital administration to address these issues and improve the overall experience for patients seeking emergency care. Here's some improvement I could think of:Reduce waiting times, improve seating areas, enhance communication, enhance patient experience, implement patient feedback system, train staff in patient care and lastly enhance facilities

Triage nurses should be considerate to people coming here for health issues. It’s not their job to dismiss someone’s health concerns and tell them not to come to the hospital. Leave that to the doctors treating the patients. Many triage nurses here need to be humbled and retrained on how to treat people kindly, respectfully AND professionally.

If you’re going to let people die because they are getting medical care for free( and they are not getting it)or if you are going to act indifferent towards their pain, then make them pay!!!The University Hospital whether it’s Children or Adults Emergency is a joke with all the staff working there! I wouldn’t give it any star, BIG SHAME on you!when you’re in a country like Canada and you can’t get medical care properly, obviously free healthcare is not working. Change it! Spent 13 hours waiting 2 times this week for my son to be treated.

I have attended emerg here on a few occasions and have always been treated with respect and professionalism. I'm also thankful to them because they saved the life of my brother in law. He was seeing doctors who just prescribed Tylenol when in fact, he had a brain bleed and had to undergo emergency surgery. Fully in support of the U of A Hospital!

Every single hospital in Edmonton is trash. 14 hour wait time for a bottle of antibiotics. Absolutely beyond unacceptable. They have her hidden in a cast room instead of giving her the 10 minute IV so we can go sleep. We arrived at 9:30pm. It is currently 11:30am. No other hospital is better either. Slower than a dead turtle on its back. You're better off to go online and learn how to treat yourself. Walk to the bathroom? Get berated not to walk around the hallways. Gee I've only been here 14 hours. Pardon my bowels. Absolutely trash.

Do not go to this hospital for Emergency. This hospital is chaos. I went in because I was having really serious symptoms from influenza. I had to wait 7 hours and all they did was check my vitals a couple of times. The waiting room is super uncomfortable. There was older people falling asleep on their chairs and falling on the ground. It’s a terrible scene. The nurses are very professional and I understand that they have a lot on their plate since there is lots of sketchy people coming in all the time. I’m not even sure there was a doctor working that night. People were waiting for 12 hours and we heard they were just putting them in another waiting room after that. So unless you’re literally dying, you will be waiting for hours. After 7 hours I couldn’t take it anymore so we left and went to Sherwood park where they had me in a bed to see a doctor in 30 minutes. They performed tests and gave me medications for nausea and pain. I recommend going to any hospital outside of Edmonton. Check wait times on AHS website. I should’ve done that from the beginning. I will be writing a formal complaint to AHS.
