Simply Sailing

Just finished their 4-day intensive class, 9-5 Thursday through Sunday. Came in with very little experience. Learned a lot, instructors were very good (Mike and Gordy), four students really learned to work as a team and learn from one another as well. Still have a long way to go, but this was a really good start to learning to sail.

Did the Basic Crew certification. Was a great five days out. Very new to sailing and learned a lot. Our instructor Mike Laanela was great. Very positive and patient. Hoping to return for another course soon.

Had a blast and learned a lot about sailing from the Basic Cruiser 4 day course. We were on the water way more than expected in a hands on learning environment. Excited to do my intermediate course here soon!

Did the four day intensive basic sailing. Right balance of study and hands on learning despite how much you had to learn. Very knowledgeable instructor with experience to go with instruction. Lots of time on a boat!

Our instructor Mike was excellent. Very patient, calm and knowledgeable. It well exceeded my expectations and I was blown away by how much I learned. 4 days almost felt too short we had so much fun. I even backed the boat into the slip with Mike’s guidance!! Highly recommend this company.

I just finished a 4-day intensive basic cruising course with Mike Laanela and Stephen DesRoches, and it was a great experience.Stephen was very knowledgeable, kind, encouraging, and hilarious! His mental mnemonics and stories from his extensive sailing past help you remember the important stuff quickly. His varied interests kept our conversations lively and entertaining while stressing the dangers of being on the water and tips for handling difficult situations.The impromptu race against Orpheus was the highlight of the course for me. It was great to see the camaraderie shared between Simply sailing instructors.My deepest thanks for a great initiation into my sailing journey! I look forward to going back for more courses with Simply Sailing.

Just finished a 5 day live aboard basic cruising course with Simply Sailing. Mike was our instructor. This was such a positive experience, wonderful opportunity to live aboard and experience a multi day cruise, staying on several islands in spectacular Howe Sound. Mike was a fantastic instructor, very calm, positive, creative, experienced and informed. he took his time with all crew members and gave us many opportunities to practice our skills. I look forward to learning more from Simply Sailing.

We knew absolutely nothing about sailing before we took Simply Sailing Basic Course. We spend 3 days on water with Janush and Doug, one two evenings with Marnie at class. Now I feel confident to be valuable crew member on boat and I’m excited to learn more! Thank you

Simply Sailing basic crew was a perfect introductory course for beginner sailors! I felt confident enough to be able to crew on a small sailboat. The instructor, Mike, was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. He was an excellent instructor. I would take this course again just to gain more experience as it is 'chock' full of information!
