My son has mild autism and started Brightstart Academy when he was in grade 4. I had him in the catholic school system and he was basically being babysat. He didn’t feel like he was part of the class, I put him in brightstart part time and noticed a huge improvement. We decided that we would put him in brightstart academy full time for grade 5. I wished that we would have started him from when he was diagnosed. My son has improved so much since he started Brightstart academy I highly recommend them. He loves going to school everyday!

Not the best service. We had a meeting scheduled for the Friday before Family Day so the staff could see my son and see if he was a good fit for the March Break Camp. The woman who arranged the appointment informed my spouse that the weather was supposed to be bad that day and would call to confirm." No one got ahold of my spouse to confirm

My son is 5 years and was at Bright Start 11 months. He finished this month.I saw many positive gains from his time at Bright Start: Increased verbal capabilities, more gentle in his interaction with peers, and he is now able to count to 10, knows most of his colors, and can recognize a few letters.I am thankful for the staff that worked so hard to help him.For parents looking for an ABA facility this is a good place to start; however it will be important to be mindful of the fact that as a parent you know your child best, and do not be unduly pressured to think otherwise. Ask questions, request reports and progress documents periodically; and stay on top of the paperwork because sometimes they seemed to be too busy,and not able to attend to administrative details. Ontario autism funding requires documentation in order for services to continue, when funds are about to run out.Thankful mom!

As a parent of a 6-year old boy with an opposition attitude and several challenging behaviors daily, I have visited recently Bright Start Academy and realized that this is the PERFECT location in these covid-19/coronavirus times for my boy. The school is small, it has a very familiar vibe and classrooms only have 6 desks (ideal to implement physical distancing). I am very concerned with the Ontario Government solutions for Public Schools and I believe having him in a private small setting like Bright Start Academy is the safest decision I should take for the development of my child. Just wish he could have a few more friends with him during Summer Camp. Overall, a great visit. Thank you Ms. Allie Offman.

we had our son here for four months. The director Allie offman is a registered nurse and very unprofessional and unethical. We were never introduced or given the opportunity to meet with any BCBA. Allie was the one creating the plans and programs. She told us she would provide us with a VBMAPP in the very first week of my sons enrolment but here we are five months later and still absolutely nothing! The Co-director also left them during this duration. Her demeanour with us during our paid months and afterwards was completely different. She has yelled at me saying we wouldn’t be able to comprehend the graphs on a VBMAPP assessment and therefore are not worthy of having it? It’s a baseline assessment to measure our sons progress over time. Very unorganized unprofessional and unethical service. A smoking gun & Mirrors kind of show to obtain money. Stay far away!! The therapists that worked one on one with my son were good but would be changed almost weekly!! Understaffed or changing staff at that rate was alarming!

Unprofessional. No communication at all! They keep changing teachers. I was upset with myself to send my child to this private school, honeslty. The headperson refused to communicate with me, about my own child learning progress. Because of lack 0f communication, my child seems to go backward instead of forward. Thank God for the other private school that my child is attending now!

Our son has autism. We visited quite a few private ABA schools in the Toronto area. We found Bright Start to be the best fit. We are 4 months into the year and everything has been great. Highly recommended.

This organization is amazing. The staff here are so kind and caring towards each individual student. They make it such a welcoming environment. I’ve volunteered and have works for many places and this is by far the most amazing I’ve seen by far. The amount of care and thought that is put into each individual student is outstanding. The principal Allie works nonstop making sure that students have everything they require and more. I would highly recommend this school to anyone looking. Not only do the students gain amazing skill sets but staff make it so fun and engaging for them! 10/10 school and staff members.

It's a small venue that's great for more intimate shows. They only downside is that the bar closes early, so even if you just want water near the end, you can't get it. And they don't provide water fountains so you are SOL if you get thirsty more than half way through the show.
