A hidden gem along the seaway. We love taking a day trip from Ottawa to visit the locks and try timing our visit with the ships sailing by. Worth the drive!

We've been here twice, the last time we got to see an ship to go though the Locke. The food at the little shop, is pretty good, I had to watch what I ordered, because of allergies. But they were most helpful in that regard. So I would highly recommend that you go here.

Have settled in for a sleep hoping for the gentle rumble of a ship in the night.

Love watching these big ships up close. Big lock map to look at, lots of plaques to read, pavilion for eating & a stage, small restaurant/kiosk on site but only open certain hours, public washrooms, Osprey nest, picnic tables, birds, big parking lot.

Great place to have a picnic, take a walk and maybe see some ships up close in the lock. Download free Marine Traffic app for your phone, to know where and when ships are sailing.

The Iroquois Lock at Iroquois, Ontario, is the first of seven locks on the St. Lawrence Seaway (1958) east of Lake Ontario.
