My two boys love going to summer camp and March break at this school! Very fun, professional, inviting, well organized & respectable Art School! Highly recommended for kids that want to express them selves in a creative way.

My kids and I have all enjoyed classes here. Your experience can depend a lot on the instructor you get but in general it's a really fun place. The kids loved the cartooning class and I have enjoyed both drawing and painting classes. Many of the students seem to be quite accomplished artists and its as much fun to watch the other students as it is to work with the instructors. I would be inclined to take more classes if they provided a little more actual instruction in technique but never-the-less I would definitely recommend you try a class as it's most enjoyable. For myself, I am now a student of studio art and art history at the University of Guelph. Learning a great deal more effectively.

A great place to take intro pottery courses. This is a great studio to learn pottery if you're starting off knowing nothing. You just have to provide your own basic tools, they provide the rest. Amazing teachers and staff! For intro potters: you'll need to be patient with yourself because it's much harder than it looks, but you can make and take home quite a few pieces (as many as you have time for). Photos are of pieces I've made :)The annual Art Auction was also really fun to participate in!

The facilities and classes are fantastic. Most of the Instructors are knowledgeable and engaging.A great place to go to get together with a community of artists from all levels. As a beginner, I never felt out of place or unwelcome.

I did the glass blowing with Paull Rodriguez and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I watched Blown Away and wanted to try it and I was able to learn how to do it and make some cool pieces. Loves it and will do it again soon. Thank you so much Paul and Rob that was great

Dundas Valley school of Art in this era is no longer an art school. It is a dead institution. You only have to look at the aging population of the school. No matter how much they spend on sleek millennial-centric marketing. It’s become a uniquely targeted retirement home for seniors who “always wanted to paint”. I’m sickened by the shift in this once free and edgy art school likened to a mini Slade school for those in the full-time programs, to sad cash grab. With courses for parent with kids who have “a creative side” and for those who can’t get in to a real art school.Sigh… This place used to be the best in the area, but now bestows a kind of nausea when I think of it. Shall I mention the current institutionalized attitudes of the management that are ruled by insurance company policies and procedures are absolutely awful. This place used to be a hub for serious artists, for musicians who needed a cool place to practice overnight when the school was closed. Keys were given to students who wanted to work past hours. It was a free space. Sadly, when the past director of the school Trevor Hodgson (who understood what a real art school needed) retired. The school drifted into the sickening display it is today. That said, many art schools today are being influenced by Insurance companies and other big business. Even NSCAD a once noble school has been absorbed into the fray. So, if you want to go to a “real art school” perhaps look for one in the Netherlands or other non-nanny states certainly not in Canada or the US.

The one-day stained glass course making a bird was excellent. The instructor provided all the materials and was quite knowledgeable. These was a selection of bird patterns and stained glasd to choose from. Once our projects were complete, we were able to take them home.
