Mario Cuts Barbershop

I started going here from when I first moved to Ottawa in 2020 until earlier this year. Initially, I liked the place a lot (and made a positive review here). Mario was the only barber and he was really good. I also started taking my 5 year old son here as well and I was happy with the haircuts and the way he was welcomed/interacted with. However, the place went progressively down hill. It became dirtier and more cluttered. I was no longer greeted in a friendly way. Mario didn't seem to do any more haircutting and while the barbers he hired/rented a chair to were fine, one smells strongly of cigarette smoke and the others are aloof. They also didn't keep their posted hours and he's not always good about picking up the phone. The quality of my son's haircuts became terrible and it no longer felt kid friendly. I went looking for and found another barber. If it wasn't so close to me, I would've switched to another place a long time ago. Having said that, I was never unhappy with the quality of my cut - just that of my son's and the experience.

I recently visited Mario for the first time, and I was pleasantly surprised by the level of service and expertise. Despite it being a busy Friday afternoon, I was in and out of the shop within an hour. The barber who saw me quickly and skillfully tackled a year's worth of hair growth, leaving me with a fresh and stylish cut that perfectly complemented my features. Finding a dependable, talented, and caring barber can be very frustrating. I had used my previous barber for 5 years until he moved. I went through a good 4 to 5 barbers afterward before landing on Mario. I can't say enough good things about him and his barber shop. I have been coming for the last 2 years for skin fades (I am extremely picky) and have never left less than over satisfied. 5 Stars is not enough!!

Great friendly place for a professional cut. Stopped in around 11 AM, sat down within seconds. Extremely friendly atmosphere with the barbers playing music and having a fun time. Cut was exactly what I wanted. I showed the barber a picture and they needed no other advice, cut my hair precisely to the requirements. Heard the other customer in the store requesting slight changes and the other barber had 0 issue fulfilling every request. 6/5 stars if I could. I know where I will be returning to.
