I've had my taxes done at this location 2 years in a row, going on a 3rd this year, and have no complaints. I've had H&R Block doing my takes for the past few years in another province as well and it's always quick and easy. No complications. The staff has been really friendly as well.

If I could put zero stars, I would. I felt like I was being pranked. We’ve been engaged in this process of catch and chase from Apr 3rd - June 13th. I did not receive one call back for any of the countless voicemails and messages left with colleagues, and did not receive one reply to any of my emails or Dashboard messages online. The only way I was able to get any answers or action on our return was by calling 2-3 different offices incessantly every few days until I could find John Nemeth. With each painful phone call when I finally got a hold of him, I never received an apology for not returning my calls/messages/emails, but would endure minutes of mumbling over the phone while he worked on the return with me on the line. I would then be promised it would be done and then not hear anything from him. We continued this cycle for months. 51 working days later, our tax return was finally complete and we were charged $577.48 in fees for this abominable service. This was an infuriating experience and we will never use H&R again. And I want to ensure others are spared from this experience in the future.

Whilst I dislike writing negative reviews, I think it is important we share the experience we received today. I’m not in the business of naming and shaming, so will refer to the employee as the Specialist only. H&R will know who this refers to.We arrived for our appointment at 7pm, but was not acknowledged until around 7:15pm, where the Specialist had no idea there was an appointment. We were then finally seen at 7:20pm(ish) after waiting very patiently.The Specialist commenced adding our details to the paper folders, when another customer arrived. She left the desk to speak with them and they agreed to wait until we were done. A second person then arrived shortly afterwards and this time, without explanation, we were left on our own for some time whilst she dealt with them. We were taken aback by this, but knew the Specialist was on her own, so we gave her some leeway. The Specialist was then in and out of the pod and when we questioned whether we would be moving along with our appointment, she become flustered and started to add some details about us to the computer, saying the other customer could wait. To put this into context, we were some 45 minutes in the office at this point, and all we had confirmed were our personal details and SIN Numbers.The Specialist was distracted and seemed disinterested at times and the whole situation made us feel uncomfortable. It is our first time filing in Canada, so we wanted to feel like we had a safe pair of hands, but sadly felt the very opposite.We asked if we should rebook to when there was time to be attentive to our taxes, to which the Specialist advised we could just leave the documents there for them to process. Given the poor experience, we were not comfortable doing this. We also had some questions, and I asked only one of these (about moving expenses) but she did not have the answer and said she would need to look this up.At this point, almost 1 hour after we arrived to the appointment, we confirmed that we were very disappointed with the service and confirmed that we would not be proceeding. The Specialist blamed the issues on being busy and on having a headache. There was no apology, and we awkwardly left.We have had the pleasure of working with many professionals over the years and have never left an appointment like this. We are perplexed at the whole disappointing experience. We chose H&R Block as we previously used them in Australia (and they were amazing), but our first impressions here have been very poor. Maybe it’s just a bad day, and maybe the staff are burnt out…but a bad day for tax advice and submission can be absolutely awful for someone’s personal life if it all goes wrong.

I have tried filing taxes online twice at this location. Both times were horrible and unprofessional experiences. The first year took about two weeks when I was given a quote time of one day. I messaged 4 times in the two weeks to no response. For this year I filed my taxes online almost 4 weeks ago and my “tax expert” assured me he would answer any questions I had. I sent a message a couple weeks after filing to try to check in on how things were going. No response. After now almost 4 weeks I did not receive a single message or anything from my tax expert, despite myself even calling in to try to speak to them. I asked for them to leave a message but I guess even that was too difficult. I didn’t even need an exact time they would be done, I just honestly wanted an acknowledgement. After sending a message that I would be filing at a different location in person, the expert gave no apology and cancelled his services on my filing promptly. So I guess they only do things quickly when it means less work for them. Anyways, don’t waste your time trying to file online, or honestly even in person at this location. Professional communication is a must when dealing with the public and the employees here really need to work on that.

Awful. Still sorting out the embarrassingly poor job that this location did filing my taxes. Filed them wrongly to the CRA, then failed to respond to the CRA follow-up. 2 months after filing my taxes, I still had not received my return. CRA told me they attempted to contact this location for further clarification but contact was not returned. No communication with me during the process and dismissive towards providing follow-up to my situation.I have used H & R Block for 15+ years and this location is BY FAR THE WORST IVE EVER EXPERIENCED. Please save your time and money, and use another location that has some knowledge and professionalism. Because apparently this location has neither.
